Lahore Cricket Teams
Lahore cricket teams, representing the city of Lahore, competed in Pakistan's first-class cricket tournaments from 1958–59 to 2018–19. They have also competed in the national 50-over and Twenty-20 tournaments as the Lahore Lions. Teams From 1953-54, the inaugural season of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, until 1957-58, the state of Punjab was represented by the Punjab cricket team (as well as by Punjab A and Punjab B in 1957-58). In the 1958-59 season the Punjab cities Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Multan fielded teams. Owing to Lahore's population and cricketing strength, beginning with the 1961-62 season the Lahore Regional Cricket Association has usually fielded more than one team in first-class tournaments. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Multan
Multan (; ) is a city in Punjab, Pakistan, on the bank of the Chenab River. Patron's Trophy
The Patron's Trophy was a cricket competition that was held in Pakistan between 1960–61 and 2018–19 mainly among teams representing the government and semi-government departments, corporations, commercial organisations, business houses, banks, airlines, and educational institutions. Matches in the competition were afforded first-class status in most seasons until 2006–07, when the domestic first-class competition was reorganised and merged into the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). From then on, the Patron's Trophy was a Grade II competition until a major reorganisation of domestic cricket in 2019 brought an end to the competition. 2016 Pakistan Super League
The 2016 Pakistan Super League (or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2016) was the debut season of the Pakistan Super League which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The tournament featured five teams and was held from 4 February 2016 to 23 February 2016 in the United Arab Emirates. The opening ceremony and first match of the tournament were held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 4 February 2016. The final was held in Dubai on 23 February and saw Islamabad United defeating Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets to win the first title. Dwayne Smith of Islamabad United was awarded the man of the match award for his innings of 73 runs from 51 balls. Ravi Bopara of the Karachi Kings was named player of the tournament. Lahore Qalandars ( ur, ; pnb, لہور قلندرز; abbreviated as LQ) is a Pakistani professional cricket franchise which plays in the Pakistan Super League, representing the city of Lahore. The home ground of the team is Gaddafi Stadium. The team is owned by Rana Brothers. The team is currently captained by Shaheen Afridi and coached by Aaqib Javed, a former Pakistan national cricket team, Pakistani cricketer. Lahore Qalandars is owned by Fawad Rana, Rana brothers. It was the second-most expensive franchise, and one of the few teams sold to an international company. Khalid Qureshi
Khalid Qureshi (12 February 1928 – 10 February 2016) was a Pakistani cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1949 to 1966. He toured India in 1952–53 with the Pakistan team but did not play Test cricket. A left-arm spinner, Qureshi made his first-class debut in two matches for Pakistan in 1949–50, against Commonwealth XI and Ceylon. He toured India with Pakistan's first touring team in 1952–53 and played in six of the first-class matches, taking 17 wickets at an average of 28.23. He played as a professional for Lowerhouse in the Lancashire League in 1954 and 1955, taking in all 100 wickets at 13.25. In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 1956–57 he took 6 for 18 and 6 for 61 to give Punjab an innings victory over Bahawalpur. He also took five wickets in the final, which Punjab won. Iftikhar Bukhari
Syed Iftikhar Ali Bokhari (6 July 1935 – 10 November 2021), also known as I. A. Bokhari, was a Pakistani politician and cricketer. He was a member of the Senate of Pakistan between March 1988 and March 1991. He played 19 matches of first-class cricket between 1952 and 1966. Early life and education Bokhari was born on 6 July 1935 in Lahore, British India, to the Syed family of Jhang. He received his early education from Aitchison College. Karachi cricket teams competed in the Pakistani first-class cricket tournaments the Patron's Trophy and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from 1953-54 to 2018-19.
