''Jeopardy!'' is an American television game show created by Merv Griffin. The show is a quiz competition that reverses the traditional question-and-answer format of many quiz shows. Rather than being given questions, contestants are instead given general knowledge clues in the form of answers and they must identify the person, place, thing, or idea that the clue describes, phrasing each response in the form of a question. The original daytime version debuted on NBC on March 30, 1964, and aired until January 3, 1975. A nighttime Broadcast syndication, syndicated edition aired weekly from September 1974 to September 1975, and a revival, ''The All-New Jeopardy!'', ran on NBC from October 1978 to March 1979 on weekdays. Merv Griffin Enterprises was an American television production company founded by Merv Griffin, in operation from March 7, 1963, to June 4, 1994. History The company was first established as Milbarn Productions on March 7, 1963, and later as Merv Griffin Productions on March 5, 1964. ''Jeopardy! National College Championship'' is a special tournament series of the quiz show ''Jeopardy!'' that aired on ABC from February 8 to 22, 2022. Format Participants enter 12 quarterfinal games, with 2 games broadcast per episode. Winners of every game advance to the semifinals and eliminated players receive a $10,000 consolation prize. The 12 semifinalists are then split into 4 matches, with the top 3 scorers entering the finals. The bottom 7 semifinalists receive a prize of $20,000, whilst the 4th place receives a $35,000 prize and entry into the daily show's upcoming Second Chance Tournament later in 2022. ''Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time'' was a special tournament limited-run series of the game show ''Jeopardy!'' that took place in January 2020. ''Jep!'' is an American children's television game show, adapted from the quiz show ''Jeopardy!'' It aired first on Game Show Network throughout the 1998–99 season, and then on Discovery Kids through late 2004. It was hosted by voice actor Bob Bergen, and created by Scott Sternberg who had earlier created '' Wheel 2000'', a children's version of '' Wheel of Fortune''.
