Pskov ( rus, Псков, a=pskov-ru.ogg, p=pskof; see also names in other languages) is a city in northwestern Russia and the administrative center of Pskov Oblast, located about east of the Estonian border, on the Velikaya River. It is located in the southwest of the oblast and borders with Pushkinogorsky District in the north, Novorzhevsky District in the northeast, Bezhanitsky District in the east, Pustoshkinsky District in the southeast, Sebezhsky District in the south, and with Krasnogorodsky District in the west. Yushkinskaya Volost
Yushkinskaya Volost is a rural settlement in Gdov Municipal District of Pskov Oblast in northern Russia inhabited by Russians, Estonians, Belarusians, and Romas. The volost covers and includes 32 villages, one of which is uninhabited. The administrative center is the village of Yushkino, which is, however, only the third largest by population after Trutnevo and Vetvenik. Although remote and hardly accessible, this area attracts some tourists and dachniks (owners of seasonal second homes, usually log cabins or small cottages) due to its untouched nature, ecology, traditional way of life and some objects of cultural and historical heritage of local significance. Many of its villages are not connected to Gdov by regular public transport. The quality of rural roads is very poor and in winter and rainy seasons it is hard to reach some remote settlements by an ordinary car. Yushkino
Yushkino (russian: Ю́шкино) is the third largest village of Yushkinskaya Volost and its administrative center. It belongs to Gdovsky District of Pskov Oblast, Russia and is located 11 kilometers south of Gdov. Vetka River flows through the village and the large Lake Peipus is located in around 5 kilometers from its center. The population in 2002 was 52. The nearest village is Zaborovye, in 1.5 kilometers to the North-East. The only historical building in Yushkino is a brick house with decorative boulder masonry which dates back to the end of the 19th century. It once belonged to a family of reach peasants and now is home to the local convenience store. Transport Yushkino is connected to the cities of Gdov, Pskov and Saint Petersburg by regular buses that pass through the village and stop on request.
