Sheringham Point Lighthouse
Sheringham Point Lighthouse is located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in the community of Shirley, British Columbia, Shirley. Built in 1912 following the fatal wreck of the SS Valencia six years earlier, it is still used for navigation. The point was named for William L. Sheringham who took part in various naval surveys, although not in this area. The federal government designated the Sheringham Point Lighthouse as a Heritage Lighthouse in 2015. The lighthouse and its surrounding lands are owned and operated by thSheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society and the site is open for the public to visit. Fisgard Lighthouse
Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site, on Fisgard Island at the mouth of Esquimalt Harbour in Colwood, British Columbia, is the site of Fisgard Lighthouse, the first lighthouse on the west coast of Canada. The lighthouse was constructed in 1859–60 by the British colonial government of the Colony of Vancouver Island, and it shone its first light on 16 November 1860. It was employed by twelve full-time lighthouse keepers, before being automated in 1929. It has remained in continuous operation, though a fire in 1957 put it out of commission for a year. The light shows a white isophase light of 2 second period in a sector from 322° to 195° at above mean sea level, and in other directions it shows red shutters. The white tower is floodlit below balcony level. It was formally recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada on 3 November 1958. Triangle Island
Triangle Island is a small island, approximately in area,Anne Vallee Triangle Island Ecological Reserve Purpose Statement Ministry of Environmen/ref> located off the northwestern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is situated approximately from Vancouver Island and from Sartine Island, Triangle Island's nearest neighbour in the Scott Islands group. The island is notable for being the location of British Columbia's largest seabird colony, hosting such species as the Cassin's auklet and the tufted puffin. The Cassin's auklet population is the world's largest. The island is administratively a part of the Scott Islands Marine Wildlife Area and is more specifically home to the Anne Vallée Triangle Island Ecological Reserve, named after a researcher who frequented the island and died there in an accident in 1982. Triple Island Lightstation
Triple Island Lighthouse is a large, manned light station on Triple Island. Built in 1920 after four years of construction, the concrete station features a tower attached to a rectangular concrete structure that houses the keepers' quarters and machinery. A Triple Island helipad occupies much of the remainder of the islet. Canadian Coast Guard personnel man the station on a 28-day rotation. The station was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1974. From 1939 to 1970, the Triple Island lightstation was part of the British Columbia Shore Station Oceanographic Program, collecting coastal water temperature and salinity measurements for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans everyday for 31 years. Trial Islands Lighthouse
The major Trial Island is home to the Trial Islands Lighthouse which is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard, and continues to be staffed by two full-time lightkeepers. The current lighthouse was erected in 1970 to replace the original lighthouse that was constructed in 1906. The fourth order Fresnel lens from 1906 was used until it was replaced in 1970. That original lens was on display courtesy of the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in Bastion Square in Downtown Victoria, but was later moved into storage with the Coast Guard. Staffing In September 2009 it was announced that the Trial Island Lighthouse would be automated to cut staffing costs. Scarlett Point Lighthouse
Scarlett Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse erected on the northeast side of Balaklava Island, known as Scarlett Point, about 15 km northwest of Port Hardy, in the Regional District of Mount Waddington, Province of British Columbia, Canada. This lighthouse is managed by the Canadian Coast Guard. History Construction In 1905 a wooden lighthouse, with living quarters underneath the light, was built at Scarlett Point. Race Rocks Lighthouse
Race Rocks Light is one of the first two lighthouses that were built on the west coast of Canada, financed by the British Government and illuminated in 1860. It is the only lighthouse on that coast built of rock, (granite) purportedly quarried in Scotland, and topped with sandstone quarried on Gabriola Island. The Islands of Race Rocks are located just off the southern tip of Vancouver Island, about southwest of Victoria, British Columbia. Lighthouse Park
Lighthouse Park is a neighbourhood park located in a residential area in West Vancouver, Canada. It is a popular tourist attraction for visitors to Vancouver as it is a National Historic Site of Canada. It is a well-maintained park, and is open year-round throughout all four seasons. The park is known for the Point Atkinson Lighthouse, located at the southernmost tip of the peninsula. The park is made up of 75 hectares (182 acres) of mostly virgin rainforest, and was founded in 1792. The District of West Vancouver maintains and operates the park and permits visitors from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visitors to this park can enjoy the various beginner level hiking trails, as well as bring their dogs for a walk or have lunch along the rocks of the beach near the Lighthouse. Pachena Point Lighthouse
Pachena Point Lighthouse is located on Vancouver Island, south of Bamfield, British Columbia, in Pacific Rim National Park. The octagonal wooden tower is maintained by the Canadian Coast Guard who employ lighthouse keepers at the station. In Summer of 2024, it was announced that Pachena Point Light (along with nearby Carmanah Point Light) would be destaffed before the end of the year. Lucy Islands
The Lucy Islands (known as ''Lax Spinna'', meaning "on shoulders", in Tsimshian) are a small archipelago off the North Coast of the province of British Columbia in Canada. The low-lying and heavily forested (Sitka spruce) group, named after its largest island, Lucy Island, constitutes a provincially protected conservancy area that contains some of the North Coast's oldest archeological sites, a nationally significant seabird population, and a prominent 20th-century lighthouse.
