WikiPilipinas (formerly known as Wikipiniana) is an online, free content website which bills itself as a combination "non-academic encyclopedia", web portal, directory and almanac for Philippine-based knowledge. Like Wikipedia, it contains various articles on Philippine-related topics. Unlike Wikipedia, many of the articles cover topics that would otherwise be deemed unencyclopedic by the stricter Wikipedia. The service for example, promotes the concept of original research and eschews the larger encyclopedia's neutral point-of-view principle. Ruwiki () is a Russian multilingual online encyclopedia, with editions in Russian and other languages of the Russian Federation. It was launched in June 24, 2023 as a fork (software), fork of the Russian-language Wikipedia, and has been described by media as "Putin-friendly" and "Kremlin-compliant", as well as a "[Russian] state-sponsored encyclopedia that is a clone of the original Russian Wikipedia but which conveniently has been edited to omit things that could cast the Russian government in poor light." The Chinese Wikipedia () is the written vernacular Chinese edition of Wikipedia. It was created on 11 May 2001. It is one of multiple projects supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. The Chinese Wikipedia currently has articles, registered users, and active editors, of whom have administrative privileges. The Chinese Wikipedia has been blocked in mainland China since May 2015. It was launched in June 2023 by former members of Wikimedians of Mainland China as a fork (software), fork of the Chinese Wikipedia, and has been described as a "Beijing-friendly" version of Wikipedia. Larry Sanger
Lawrence Mark Sanger (; born July 16, 1968) is an American Internet project developer and philosopher who co-founded Wikipedia along with Jimmy Wales. Sanger coined Wikipedia's name, and provided initial drafts for many of its early guidelines, including the "Wikipedia#Policies and content, Neutral point of view" and "Ignore all rules" policies. Prior to Wikipedia, he was the editor-in-chief of Nupedia, another online encyclopedia and the predecessor of Wikipedia.
