Ant (newspaper)
''Ant'' was a Turkish political magazine with a socialist leaning that existed between 1967 and 1971. The magazine was one of the socialist publications which appeared in the 1960s when socialist movements were on rise in Turkey like in other countries. History and profile ''Ant'' was established by Turkish writers, Fethi Naci, Yaşar Kemal and Doğan Özgüden in 1967. The first issue of the weekly appeared on the 3 January 1967. The journal had 173 issues as a weekly until April 1970 when it was redesigned as a monthly with the name ''Ant - A journal of socialist theory and action'' and had 84, but much smaller pages. Although the magazine was viewed as supportive of the Workers' Party of Turkey (1961), Workers' Party of Turkey (TIP), it was not an official organ of the party. Tercüman
''Tercüman: Halka ve Olaylara'' was a Turkish daily newspaper. It was founded in 1955 by Kemal Ilıcak (1932–1993), and associated with the center-right. It was based in the now demolished Tercüman Building. It was temporarily closed down by the military authorities between 11 August and 3 September 1983 when there was martial law in Turkey. Ayhan Songar published weekly columns in the paper between 1986 and 1989. Another contributor of the paper was Nevzat Yalçıntaş. ''Tercüman'' closed after Ilıcak's death, and the name was acquired by the Çukurova Media Group in 1997. In 2003 Ilıcak's family (including Kemal's son, Mehmet Ali Ilıcak) attempted to resurrect the paper, and a dispute with Çukurova over naming rights saw Çukurova hastily relaunch its ''Tercüman'' in January 2003, on the same day the Ilıcaks' ''Dünden Bugüne Tercüman'' appeared. Feza Publications Inc. (''Feza Gazetecilik A.Ş'') was a Turkish media conglomerate established in 1986. It had the ownership over the '' Zaman'', ''Today's Zaman'' newspapers, the Cihan News Agency, as well as the ''Aksiyon ''Aksiyon'' () was a Turkish news magazine. The magazine was close to the Gülen movement. It was established by Feza Publications in 1994. ''Zaman'' (, literally "time" or "era"), sometimes stylized as ZAMAN, was a daily newspaper in Turkey. ''Zaman'' was a major, high-circulation daily before government seizure on 4 March 2016 (the circulation was around 650,000 as of February 2016). It was founded in 1986 and was the first Turkish daily to go online in 1995. It contained national (Turkish), international, business, and other news. ''Zafer'' () was a daily newspaper which was published in Ankara, Turkey, between 1949 and 1960. It was one of the leading newspapers in Turkey during the 1950s. It is known for its close affiliation with the Democrat Party (DP) which was the ruling party in the period between 1950 and 1960. The paper was closed by the Turkish authorities immediately after the military coup on 27 May 1960 which ended the rule of the DP. History and profile ''Zafer'' was first published on 30 April 1949. It came out daily and was headquartered in Ankara. Its founder was Mümtaz Faik Fenik who was a journalist and a deputy of Ankara for the DP. He also headed the DP's campaign in the 1946 election. ''Yeni Ülke'' (''New Land'') was a Turkish pro-Kurdish newspaper. It was founded in October 1990 as a weekly newspaper, and in 1993 merged with the daily ''Özgür Gündem''. The motivation for the establishment for the newspaper came mainly from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and PKK members wrote several columns and articles for the newspaper. The newspaper was soon popular and had a wide readership, which reportedly reached 50'000. In 1992/3 a number of its contributors (included Musa Anter, assassinated September 1992) were assassinated. On 24 February 1992 ''Yeni Ülke'' journalist Cengiz Altun was assassinated. He had previously received death threats, and had written an article on the Counterguerrilla in the 2–8 February issue. ''Yeni Ülke'' Mecit Akgün was found hanged to an electric pole on 2 June, by PKK according to a note left on the scene.
