Sett Valley Trail
The Sett Valley Trail is a shared-use path in Derbyshire, England, linking the village of Hayfield and the town of New Mills, via Birch Vale, Thornsett and Ollersett. It runs along the lower valley of the River Sett on the route of a former railway line. History The path follows the trackbed of the former branch railway line from to , via , which opened in 1868 and closed in 1970. The line was purchased from British Rail by Derbyshire County Council in 1973 and the station buildings at Hayfield were demolished in 1975. The Sett Valley Trail was opened in 1979. The Coast to Coast or Sea to Sea Cycle Route (C2C) is a cycle route opened in 1994. Combining sections of National Cycle Route 7, 14, 71 and 72; it runs from Whitehaven or Workington on the west coast of Cumbria, and then crosses the Lake District and the Pennines in the north of England by using a variety of both on and off-road trails, ending on the north-east coast in Tyne and Wear at Sunderland or Tynemouth. Sustrans state that it is the UK's most popular challenge cycle route, it is designed for the whole range of cyclists, from families to cycling club riders. The Parkland Walk
The Parkland Walk is a linear green pedestrian and cycle route in London, which follows the course of the railway line that used to run between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace, through Stroud Green, Crouch End, Highgate and Muswell Hill. It is often mistakenly described as 4.5 miles long, but even taking in the gap between the two sections it still only totals 3.1 miles (5.0 km). The route follows the bridges and cuttings of the line, but avoids the closed surface section of Highgate station and its adjoining tunnels, which are closed to walkers for safety reasons. The walk is almost all in Haringey, but a short stretch between Crouch Hill and Crouch End Hill is in Islington and this section incorporates Crouch Hill Park. Monsal Trail
The Monsal Trail is a cycling, horse riding and walking trail in the Derbyshire Peak District. It was constructed from a section of the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midland Junction Railway, which was built by the Midland Railway in 1863 to link Manchester with London and closed in 1968. The Monsal Trail is about long and opened in 1981. It starts at the Topley Pike junction in Wye Dale, east of Buxton, and runs to Coombs Viaduct, south-east of Bakewell. It follows the valley of the River Wye, Derbyshire, River Wye. The trail passes through Blackwell Mill, Chee Dale, Millers Dale, Cressbrook, Monsal Dale, Great Longstone, Hassop and Bakewell. Mineral Tramway Trails
The Mineral Tramways Trails are a series of public leisure trails located in mid west Cornwall. The network comprises over of trails, which largely follow the routes of former tram and railway lines for transporting goods and materials to and from the many copper and tin mines which historically operated in the region. Development of the trails The Mineral Tramways Heritage Project was set up by Cornwall County Council in 1989.
