Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, widely spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, Telugu cinema is the second largest film industry in India by box-office revenue as of 2023, following Bollywood. Suman is an Indian actor known for his work in South Indian films. He played the male lead and supporting characters mostly in Telugu and Tamil movies. He also featured in a few Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. In a career spanning almost 5 decades, he has acted in more than 700 movies in 10 languages. He was one of the most prominent actors of Telugu cinema during the 1980s and 1990s. Early life Suman was born in a Tulu-speaking Billava family in Madras of present-day Tamil Nadu. Kamalakara Kameswara Rao (4 October 1911 – 29 June 1998) was an Indian film director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, and a few Tamil and Hindi films. Widely known as ''Pauranika Chitra Brahma'' (), Kameswara Rao directed fifty feature films in a variety of genres. In 1960 he directed the biographical film, '' Mahakavi Kalidasu'' which won the President's silver medal for Best Feature Film in Telugu. In 1962 he directed '' Gundamma Katha'' which was commercially successful and received the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu.
