Suburbs and localities are the names of geographic subdivisions in Australia, used mainly for address purposes. The term locality is used in rural areas, while the term suburb is used in urban areas. Postcodes in Australia, Australian postcodes closely align with the boundaries of localities and suburbs. This Australian usage of the term "suburb" differs from common American and British usage of suburb (municipality outside of a big city). The Australian usage is closer to the American or British use of "neighbourhood" or "district", and can be used to refer to any portion of a city. Unlike the use in British or American English, this term can include inner-city, outer-metropolitan and industrial areas. Armadale is a suburb of Perth within the City of Armadale, located on the south-eastern edge of the Perth metropolitan region. The major junction of the South Western and Albany Highways, which connect Perth with the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia respectively, is located within the suburb. Aveley, Western Australia
Aveley is an outer suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located north-east of Perth's central business district in the City of Swan. It is adjacent to and forms a common urban area with the secondary metropolitan centre of Ellenbrook. The suburb was developed during the 2000s and the 2010s as a masterplanned community. History Name The suburb of Aveley is named after the town of Aveley in Essex, England. The City of Cockburn ( ) is a local government area in the southern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth about south of Fremantle and about south of Perth's central business district. The City covers an area of and had a population of over 104,000 as at the 2016 Census. History Cockburn is named after Cockburn Sound, which was named in 1827 by Captain James Stirling after Admiral Sir George Cockburn. Sir George was born in London in 1772 and was a renowned British naval officer, eventually becoming Admiral of the Fleet and First Sea Lord. Attadale, Western Australia
Attadale is a riverside suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Melville. It was the first subdivision of Matheson's Melville Water Park Estate. Attadale was named after an estate in Scotland situated on the south side of Loch Carron. The suburb is located between the central business district and Fremantle along the southern side of the Swan River. Ashfield, Western Australia
Ashfield is a residential suburb of Perth, Western Australia in the Town of Bassendean. The suburb is located along the Swan River. The Midland line passes through the suburb and it is serviced by the Ashfield railway station. It is home to Ashfield Reserve, which also contains Ashfield Arena. It also contains Ashfield Flats, the largest river flat remaining in the Perth metropolitan area. The housing was originally established as a small collection of railway houses near the train line. In the late 1950s early 1960s the area experienced a small boom of housing (400 houses) mostly built by the then State Housing Commission partly funded by the sale of half the properties to individuals. In the late 1960s the State Housing started to reacquire some of those properties.
