''Bar Rescue'' is an American reality TV series that premiered on Paramount Network (formerly Spike) on July 17, 2011. It stars Jon Taffer (a long-time food and beverage industry consultant specializing in nightclubs and pubs), who offers his professional expertise, access to service industry experts, and renovations and equipment to desperately failing bars in order to save them from closing. All renovations and improvements are paid for by sponsors, with no cost to the businesses. Additionally, the businesses featured on ''Bar Rescue'' are under no obligation to follow any of the rescue protocols or keep any of the changes. Throughout the show's history, multiple bars have restored their original name or motif after filming wraps. Episodes are shot in real-time for five-day stretches, however, considerable planning happens ahead of time. ''Bar Rescue'' is an American reality television series that airs on Paramount Network (formerly Spike during the first five seasons). It stars Jon Taffer, a long-time food and beverage industry consultant specializing in nightclubs, bars and pubs. Taffer offers his professional expertise, renovations and equipment to desperately failing bars in an effort to save them from closing. The show premiered on what was then known as Spike in the United States on July 17, 2011. In the UK, the show originally aired on 5Star, later moving to Spike (UK), which is now 5Spike/ 5Action. A spin-off series titled ''Marriage Rescue'' premiered on June 2, 2019. On September 22, 2020, it was announced that the series would move to another ViacomCBS (Now Paramount) network, as part of a since-rescinded plan to shift the Paramount Network to television films and miniseries. Paramount Network
Paramount Network is an American basic cable television channel and the flagship property of the Paramount Media Networks division of Paramount Global, who operates it through the MTV Entertainment Group. The network's headquarters are located at the Paramount Pictures studio lot in Los Angeles. Jon Taffer
Jonathan Peter Taffer (born November 7, 1954) is an American entrepreneur and television personality. He is best known for hosting the reality series ''Bar Rescue'' on Paramount Network and '' Face the Truth'' on CBS with Vivica A. Fox. Early life Taffer was born in Great Neck, New York on November 7, 1954, to Russian-Jewish parents. He graduated from William A. Shine Great Neck South High School in Great Neck in 1972 and, after a short time at the University of Denver studying political science and minoring in cultural anthropology, he relocated to Los Angeles. Career Taffer was born into a family of entrepreneurs. He first worked as a bartender in 1973 for Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood while performing as a drummer in a band. Taffer's first bar management job was at The Troubadour night club in West Hollywood in 1978. He was given full control of the bar in 1981 where staff theft was common.
