Most lakes in Finland are small, but there are 309 lakes or reservoirs with a surface area larger than 10 km². There are about 5,600 lakes in Finland that are larger than 0.1 km² (10 hectares or 100'000 square metres), and 187,888 lakes larger than five Hectare#Are, ares (500 square metres / 5,382 sq.ft.). There is no standard unambiguous definition of the size requirements for a water body to be classified as a lake.  Saimaa is the largest lake in Finland, and the List of largest lakes of Europe, fourth-largest natural freshwater lake in Europe. Höytiäinen
' is a lake in Finland. Due to a mismanaged drainage attempt during 1859, the lake was reduced by around one third of its size. It flows through a channel formed in the drainage attempt, called Höytiäisenkanava, into Lake Pyhäselkä in the province of Northern Karelia. Hiidenvesi
Hiidenvesi (; ) is the second largest lake in the Uusimaa region in Finland. The biggest part of the lake is located in the municipality of Vihti and smaller parts in the town of Lohja. Haukivesi
Haukivesi is a lake in southeastern Finland and a part of the Saimaa lake system. Haukivesi is the central basin of the system, collecting 80% of the water that eventually flows into Lake Ladoga through River Vuoksi. Its area is (List of lakes in Finland, 8th). Hauhonselkä
Hauhonselkä is a lake in Finland. It is part of a chain of lakes that begins from the lakes Lummene and Vesijako at the drainage divide between the Kokemäenjoki and Kymijoki basins and flows westwards from there through the lakes Kuohijärvi, Kukkia, Iso-Roine, Hauhonselkä and Ilmoilanselkä and ends into lake Mallasvesi. From Mallasvesi, the waters flow through Vanajavesi and Pyhäjärvi (Tampere), Pyhäjärvi towards Kokemäenjoki in the west, and ultimately to the Gulf of Bothnia. Hauhonselkä lake is located in the city of Hämeenlinna in the area of the former municipality of Hauho in the Tavastia Proper region and is a part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. Hankavesi-Välivesi
Hankavesi-Välivesi is a lake in South Ostrobothnia, Finland, located in the municipality of Ähtäri. It consists of four lake basins called Hankavesi, Välivesi, Moksunjärvi and Lamminperänlampi. Hankavesi-Välivesi has a surface area of about 13 square kilometres. Hankavesi is the largest of the lake basins. Right next to the basin is located Ähtäri Zoo. In the middle of Hankavesi, there is a large island called Hankasaari with many buildings. In total, there are seven islands or islets in the basin, of which are named also Jänissaari (meaning "Hare Island") and Järvisensaari ("Järvinen's Island"). Hankavesi looks as if it has merged into Moksunjärvi basin because their strait called Moksunsalmi is so wide. Välivesi basin is slightly smaller than Hankavesi.
