L'attaque Du Moulin
''L'attaque du moulin'' (''The Attack on the Mill'') is a ''drame lyrique'' (opera) in four acts by the French composer Alfred Bruneau. The libretto, by Louis Gallet with the collaboration of Émile Zola, is based on a short story by Zola (included in the collection ''Les soirées de Médan''). Zola's story is about the Franco-Prussian War, but the setting of the opera was changed to the period of the French Revolution. Performance history ''L'attaque du moulin'' was first performed on 23 November 1893 by the Opéra-Comique at the former Théâtre Lyrique (the present Théâtre de la Ville) on the Place du Châtelet in Paris. The ''mise-en-scène'' was by Léon Carvalho, the scenery by Marcel Jambon, and the costumes by Théophile Thomas. The original production was performed a total of 39 times. Edmond Clément
Edmond Clément (28 March 1867, Paris - 24 February 1928, Nice) was a French lyric tenor who earned an international reputation due to the polished artistry of his singing. During his career he also held a private studio, one of his students being the internationally recognized soprano Marie Sundelius. Biography Clément began his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris with Victor Warot, subsequently making his debut at the Opéra-Comique in 1889, as Vincent in ''Mireille''. Maximilien-Nicolas Bouvet (1854 – 1943) was a French operatic baritone. Bouvet was born at La Rochelle. In 1875, he appeared at the Eldorado café-concert in Paris with the song ''Les myrtes son flétries'' by Gustave Nadaud and de Faure. Georgette Leblanc (8 February 1869, Rouen – 27 October 1941, Le Cannet) was a French operatic soprano, actress, author, and the sister of novelist Maurice Leblanc.
