Kalhor (tribe)
Kalhor () is a Kurdish tribe and their dialect, "Kalhori", has been categorized as a branch of Southern Kurdish. History The tribe is described as the most powerful tribe in the province of Kermanshah and the surrounding region, and also described as "one of the most ancient, if not the most ancient, of the tribes of Kurdistan". The Kalhoris were mentioned by Sharaf-al-Din Bedlisi in the late 16th century, according to whom, the chiefs of the Kalhor claimed to be descended from Giv, the son of Goudarz (q.v.), a major hero in the Shahnameh. Areas Kalhor tribe populate cities and towns such as Sarpol-e Zahab, Gilan-e Gharb, Eslamabad-e Gharb, Eyvan and Zarneh in Iran. In Iraq, they mainly populate Khanaqin. The tribe has over 260,000 members in Kermanshah province. Nineveh Governorate
Nineveh Governorate ( ar, محافظة نينوى, syr, ܗܘܦܪܟܝܐ ܕܢܝܢܘܐ, Hoparkiya d’Ninwe, ckb, پارێزگای نەینەوا, Parêzgeha Neynewa), also known as Ninawa Governorate, is a governorate in northern Iraq. It has an area of and an estimated population of 2,453,000 people as of 2003. Its largest city and provincial capital is Mosul, which lies across the Tigris river from the ruins of ancient Nineveh. Herki (tribe)
Herki, also spelled Harki () is a large tribe in Kurdistan. The largest part of this tribe live in Iraqi Kurdistan and a significant number live in Iranian Kurdistan. They are also found in Northern Kurdistan. Sub-tribes The Herkis are divided in three sub-tribes: Menda, Sida and Serhati. History According to tradition, the Herkis descend from a man named Babekr Agha. There are claims, however, like that of Dr.Zirar Siddiq Tewfiq, author of the book ''The Kurdish Tribes and Tribal Leaders in the Middle Ages,'' believes that the Harkis were present in the middle ages, possibly as 'Arji'. It seems that the Arji dwelt around Amadiya during the Abbasid period. Balak (tribe)
Balak, باڵەک, Balek is an ancient Kurdish tribe living in the former Soran Emirate which is now part of Erbil Governorate in Southern Kurdistan. it is located in the mountainous region of northern Erbil Governorate in Southern Kurdistan. People from the Balak area speak a language that is mixed in the Kurdish Sorani dialect and the Kurdish Kurmanji dialect. Like most Kurdish tribes, the people from the Balak tribe mainly live in mountains. Balak area ranges from Rawanduz district in the southwest, to the Haji Omaran sub-district in the northeast.
