''Kiss the Sky'' is a compilation album by American rock guitarist, singer–songwriter Jimi Hendrix. In the US, it was released by Reprise Records in October 1984 and by Polydor Records in the UK in November 1984. The album's title is taken from the lyrics of "Purple Haze." " Red House" is listed in the liner notes as the "unedited version", which amounted to a few seconds of studio chat that preceded the song. " Stepping Stone" is believed to be the original ''Band of Gypsys'' single mix. " Killing Floor" from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival was unreleased at the time. James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. ''Smash Hits'' is a compilation album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Track Records first issued it on April 12, 1968, in the UK and included all four of the group's singles (both A and B sides) released up to that time, plus four additional songs from the UK edition of ''Are You Experienced''. Reprise Records did not issue the album in the US until July 30, 1969, with some different tracks. It included two songs from ''Electric Ladyland'' and three tracks from the UK edition of ''Are You Experienced'', which were previously unreleased in the US (including a stereo version of " Red House" from a different take than the original mono album version). ''Smash Hits'' has been reissued several times on CD, however, it has been largely superseded by more recent and comprehensive compilations, such as '' Experience Hendrix: The Best of Jimi Hendrix'' (1997). Chester Arthur Burnett (June 10, 1910January 10, 1976), better known by his stage name Howlin' Wolf, was an American blues singer and guitarist. ''Electric Ladyland'' is the third and final studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the final studio album released before Hendrix's death in 1970. A double album, it was the only record from the Experience produced by Hendrix. The band's most commercially successful release and their only number one album, it was released by Reprise Records in the United States on October 16, 1968, and by Track Records in the UK nine days later.
