Adolfo Kind
Adolf respectively Adolfo Kind (1848 in Chur – August 1907) was a Swiss chemical engineer and one of the fathers of Italian skiing. Life Kind was born in 1848 to a German-speaking Walser family, which had been living in Chur for more than four centuries. When his father was appointed pastor of the Evangelic Church the family went to Milan but they removed to Switzerland at the beginning of the Sardinian War in 1859 where they lived in Graubünden. Afterwards Kind studied chemical engineering in Munich und Zürich and went back to Italy in 1879 where he worked in the direction of a candle and soap company. He started a family and went to Turin in 1890 where he worked in a candle wick company. Skiing Kind's family and friends became interested in skiing, while living in Turin, from his connections to the Swiss canton of Glarus. Kind started the import to the city since 1896. Johann Friedrich Kind
Johann Friedrich Kind (4 March 1768, in Leipzig – 24 June 1843 in Dresden) was a German dramatist, most famous for writing the libretto for Carl Maria von Weber's opera ''Der Freischütz'' (1821). Biography He studied law, and began his law practice in Dresden in 1793. In 1814, he abandoned his law practice to devote himself exclusively to literary work. He was a very industrious writer in many fields of literature, in all of which he was popular in his day with a large class of readers. With Winkler, he edited the ''Abendzeitung'' from 1817 to 1826. Though he published five volumes of sentimental and popular poetry, his poetry is the weakest of his literary efforts; the 1894 edition of the reputed Brockhaus encyclopedia critiqued it as being "smooth in form but without the least bit of originality."Brockhaus' Konversations-Lexikon. 14th ed., Leipzig, Berlin and Vienna 1894; Vol. 10, p. 339. Paolo Kind
Paolo Kind was an early Italian ski jumper and sports official. Paolo Kind was a son of Adolfo Kind. He started skiing in the 1890s. When his father died in an mountaineering accident in 1907, he followed him as the second president of the Ski Club Torino. On November 7, 1908, Kind founded the Unione Ski Club Italiani (USCI), of which he was the first president, and which later passed into the FISI.
