The Kennet River, now commonly spelt Kennett River, is a perennial river of the Lake Corangamite, Corangamite catchment, located in the Otway Ranges, Otways region of the Australian state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Location and features Formed by the confluence of the West and East branches of the river, the Kennet River rises in the Otway Ranges in southwest Victoria, below Muddy Saddle, and flows generally east by south through the Port Campbell National Park before reaching its mouth (river), river mouth and emptying into Addis Bay within Bass Strait, northeast of Cape Otway at the locality of . Kennett River, Victoria
Kennett River is a small seaside town in Victoria, Australia. Situated west of Melbourne, on the Otway Coast portion of the scenic Great Ocean Road, Kennett River is a popular tourist destination from the resort town of Lorne, Victoria. History The river running through the town was named by surveyor George Smythe after the River Kennet in Berkshire, England. In 1882, Alex MacLennan and his cousins, the MacReas, were looking for an area suited to farming and fishing. MacLennan chose this site, which he named ''The Kennet''. His cousins settled on the other side of the creek at a site named Wye River. Kennett River Post Office opened on 15 December 1938 and closed in about 1984. Tourism The area is known for scenic coastal views, whale watching, the Great Otway National Park, and surfing. River Kennet
The Kennet is a tributary of the River Thames in Southern England. Most of the river is straddled by the North Wessex Downs AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The lower reaches have been made navigable as the Kennet Navigation, which – together with the Avon Navigation, the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Thames – links the cities of Bristol and London. The length from near its sources west of Marlborough, Wiltshire, Marlborough, Wiltshire down to Woolhampton, Berkshire is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This is primarily from an array of rare plants and animals completely endemism, endemic to chalky watercourses. River Kennett
The River Kennett is a river that runs through Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in eastern England. Course The River Kennett rises in the hills just west of Cowlinge Hall in western Suffolk at an altitude of around 108m above sea level. It flows north-east to the village of Cowlinge before turning west for around a mile, crossing the county border into Cambridgeshire in the parish of Kirtling. After only a couple of miles in Cambridgeshire it crosses back into Suffolk just north of Lidgate and flows north through Dalham and Moulton. At Kentford it forms the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border for around a mile followed by a mile in Cambridgeshire just north of the village of Kennett, after which it again forms the county border for around three miles as it runs past Red Lodge. As it reaches Freckenham, it joins Lee Brook, a tributary of the River Lark, just south of Freckenham, at an altitude of around 10m. The river is generally dry in the summertime.
