Kohelet Policy Forum
The Kohelet Policy Forum (KPF or Kohelet; ) is a conservative, libertarian, right-wing Israeli nonprofit think tank established in 2012 and run by founder and chair Moshe Koppel alongside Avraham Diskin, Avi Bell and Eugene Kontorovich. Its goal is to influence government policies within Israel. In 2023, the organization rose to prominence for its involvement in advocating for judicial reform in Israel and its publication of many of the policy papers that underpin the 2023 Israeli judicial reform. Amid the controversy, which has seen KPF lose its main donor, the organization has attempted to soften its public position on judicial reform. Due to the loss of donations, in April 2024, KPF announced that it would cut about half its staff. Israeli Settlement
Israeli settlements, also called Israeli colonies, are the civilian communities built by Israel throughout the Israeli-occupied territories. They are populated by Israeli citizens, almost exclusively of Israeli Jews, Jewish identity or ethnicity, and have been constructed on lands that Israel has militarily occupied since the Six-Day War in 1967. Yuval Diskin (; born June 11, 1956) is a former director of the Israeli internal security service Shin Bet, serving as its 13th director from 2005 to 2011. He was appointed by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, and later served under subsequent Prime Ministers Ehud Olmert and Benjamin Netanyahu. Career in the secret service, 1978-2011 In 1990, he was appointed head of department in Shabak's Counter Terrorism Division, which was responsible for the collection and analysis of intelligence and carrying out operations based on information received. Ynet (stylized in all lowercase) is an Israeli news and general-content website, and the online outlet for the '' Yedioth Ahronoth'' newspaper. History Ynet launched on June 6, 2000, in Hebrew, following other Hebrew outlet's website launches including ''Haaretz'', Maariv and '' Globes''. According to ''Globes'', the launch of Ynet may have been delayed due to concerns about Ynet cannibalizing the '' Yedioth Ahronoth'' newspaper. The website had 130 staff members at launch, and the original columnists included Ofer Shelah and Gadi Taub. Its content is separate from the newspaper. A sandbag or dirtbag is a bag or sack made of Hessian (cloth), hessian (burlap), polypropylene or other sturdy materials that is filled with sand or soil and used for such purposes as flood control, military fortification in trenches and bunkers, shielding glass windows in war zones, buoyancy compensator (aviation), ballast, counterweight, and in other applications requiring mobile fortification, such as adding improvised additional protection to armored vehicles or tanks. The advantages are that the bags and sand are inexpensive. When empty, the bags are compact and lightweight for easy storage and transportation. 2023 Israeli Judicial Reform Protests
From January to October 2023, large-scale protests took place across Israel in response to the government's push for a 2023 Israeli judicial reform, wide-ranging judicial reform. The proposed reform aimed to give the government full control of the Supreme Court of Israel, Supreme Court or court decisions through various ways. The government also attempted to dismantle the Israel Bar Association and change the makeup of the Judicial Selection Committee (Israel), Judicial Selection Committee. Brothers and Sisters in Arms (), also known as Achim Laneshek and Brothers in Arms (), is an organization of reserve men and women from various units of the IDF, operating within the protest movement against the judicial reforms promoted by the thirty-seventh government of Israel headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
