Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional sports, professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the Laws of Australian football, laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with 1897 VFL season, its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria (Australia), Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. The league currently consists of 18 teams spread over five of Australia's six states (Tasmania being the exception). Tim Trevaskis
Albert William "Tim" Trevaskis (23 August 1902 – 2 July 1980) was an Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne in both the Victorian Football Association (VFA), and the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of George William Trevaskis (1872-1952), and Rosetta Trevaskis (1875-1946), née Jordan, Albert William Trevaskis was born on 23 August 1902. He married Alicia Florence Cruickshank (1904-1984) in 1923. Gerry Britt
Gerry Britt (23 October 1902 – 22 January 1978) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It ... (VFL). Britt had earlier played for North in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before crossing to Williamstown in 1924 where he played in the VFA grand final that year against Footscray at Arden Street. Although he crossed back to North in July 1925, Britt still ran third in the VFA Recorder Cup of that season. He returned to Williamstown in 1929 and was awarded the most unselfish player trophy in 1930. Britt went to Auburn as captain-coach in 1931. Raymond Albert Harper (26 July 1900 – 10 March 1935) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda, Carlton, and North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
