John Hyde (Australian Federal Politician)
John Martin Hyde (born 2 February 1936) is a former Australian politician. He was elected as the member for the Division of Moore in Western Australia for the Liberal Party. Biography Hyde was born and educated in Western Australia before farming wheat and sheep at Dalwallinu. He lost his right arm as a result of a farming accident. A successful farmer, he was a councillor and deputy-President of the Shire of Dalwallinu and won the federal seat of Moore in 1974, holding it until he was defeated in 1983. With three other MPs he formed "the Dries" which were then a backbench group which advocated economic conservatism and soundness in public finances and rejected short-term populism. He opposed the economic policies of the Whitlam Government which was dismissed in November 1975, and also many of the policies of the succeeding Fraser Coalition Government which he considered to be in many ways hardly if at all better. John Norman Hyde (born 13 October 1957 in Hamilton, Victoria) is a former politician who was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the electoral district of Perth. Hereford (UK Parliament Constituency)
Hereford was, until 2010, a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Since 1918, it had elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system. Previously, Hereford had been a parliamentary borough which from 1295 to 1885 had elected two MPs, using the bloc vote system in contested elections. Under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885 the borough's representation had been reduced to one seat at the 1885 general election, and for the 1918 general election the borough was abolished and replaced with a county division which carried the same name but covered a wider geographical area. John Richard Hyde
John Richard Hyde (15 November 1912 – 15 July 2003) was a Canadian soldier, provincial politician and judge. Education Born in Montreal, Quebec, the son of George Gordon Hyde, a Quebec MNA and member of the Legislative Council of Quebec, and Lilian Boronow, he studied at the Royal Military College of Canada from 1930 to 1934. He studied law at Cambridge University from 1934 to 1935 and the Université de Montréal from 1935 to 1938. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1938. Career He practiced law with his father at law firm of Hyde and Ahern (now called Ahern, Lalonde, Nuss & Drymer). During World War II, he served with the Royal Canadian Artillery in France and Belgium. After the war, he resumed his law practice and remained in the reserves eventually reaching the rank of Brigadier-General. John Hyde (footballer)
John Charles Arthur Hyde (11 April 1930 – 26 March 2020) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League (VFL) for the Geelong Football Club. Originally from Portarlington, Victoria, Hyde won Geelong's best and fairest award in 1950 before playing in their back-to-back premierships in 1951 and 1952. Hyde left Victoria after the 1954 VFL season to join Claremont in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) as captain-coach. Hyde died of cancer on 26 March 2020. John Hyde (14 January 1738 – 8 July 1796) was a Puisne Judge on the Supreme Court of Judicature at Fort William in Bengal from 1774 to his death. He is the primary author of ''Hyde's Notebooks'', a series of 74 notebooks that are a trove of information for the first years of the Supreme Court of Judicature at Fort William, the highest court in Bengal from 1774 to 1862. The originals of these are kept at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. Partial microfilms are held at the National Library of India, Kolkata. The digitized microfilm is available online. The originals, which vary slightly from the microfilm, were digitized in 2015 but are not yet released. John Kenneth Hyde (14 August 1930 – 10 December 1986) was an English historian, known for his research on the city in medieval Italy, and on medieval descriptions of cities. He held the chair in medieval history of the University of Manchester (1979–86). Early life and education Hyde's family owned an iron and steel works, located at Stoke-on-Trent in 1930 when Kenneth Hyde was born. He was educated at Mostyn House on the Wirral, Cheshire, and the Oundle School, Northamptonshire, and then served in the Ordnance Corps. After his national service, he attended Worcester College, Oxford, where he graduated with a second-class degree in modern history in 1953, followed by a Diploma in Social Anthropology. John Nelson Hyde (November 9, 1865 – February 17, 1912), known as John Hyde, was an American missionary who preached in the Punjab. Biography Born in Illinois, the son of a Presbyterian minister, this minister prayed that God would raise up more missionaries. John Hyde passed college and became a member of the faculty. Strangely, he resigned and entered into McCormick Theological Seminary. His elder brother Edmund was also in the seminary. Edmund dreamed of being a preacher, so in pursuit of that dream he went to preach in Montana but suddenly died of a fever. John wondered if he would take his brother's place. Early life Hyde was born to a Jewish family as Iván Haidabura in Russia and moved to the United States in April 1898.
