Joseph Wright (born 25 August 1972) is an English film director residing in Somerset, England. His motion pictures include the literary adaptations ''Pride & Prejudice'' (2005), ''Atonement'' (2007), ''Anna Karenina'' (2012), and '' Cyrano'' (2021), the action thriller '' Hanna'' (2011), Peter Pan origin story '' Pan'' (2015), and '' Darkest Hour'' (2017), a political drama following Winston Churchill during World War II nominated for Best Picture. Early life and career Wright always had an interest in the arts, especially painting. He would also make films on his Super 8 camera as well as spend time in the evenings acting in a drama club. Wright is dyslexic. He went to Islington Green Secondary School, but left without any GCSEs. He began his career working at his parents' puppet theatre, the Little Angel Theatre in Islington. Joel Sherman Wright (1869 – September 20, 1909) was a professional baseball player. He played parts of two seasons in Major League Baseball for the Louisville Colonels and Pittsburgh Pirates in 1895–96, primarily as an outfielder. Wright started his professional baseball career in 1890 with the Ottawa team in the Illinois–Iowa League The Illinois–Iowa League was a Minor league baseball league which operated in Illinois, Iowa and Indiana from 1890 to 1892. History The Illinois–Iowa League began play in 1890 and was nicknamed as the "Two I League". The Aurora Hoodoos, .... He broke into the majors in 1895 with the Colonels, where he played the second-most games in the outfield on the team. The next season, he was traded to the Pirates in May. Joseph Eugene Wright (born April 1, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player. Wright holds the single season scoring record in the Úrvalsdeild karla when he averaged 46.6 points per game during the 1992–1993 season. In 1992 he set the single game scoring record in the Korisliiga when he scored 79 points. College career Wright played college basketball for Kansas State University. On January 23, 1985, he made 11 of 11 field goals against Oklahoma State, setting a Big 8 Conference record. Wright was named Big 8 Player of the Week in both 1985 and 1986. Joseph Wright (1907 – 20 November 1936) was an English professional association football, footballer who made nearly 100 English Football League, Football League appearances playing as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for Leicester City F.C., Leicester City, Torquay United and Brighton & Hove Albion. Life and career Wright was born in Gateshead in 1907. He was playing North-Eastern League football for Birtley F.C., Birtley when signed by Leicester City F.C., Leicester City in 1929.
