DeWayne Jessie
DeWayne Jessie (a.k.a. "Otis Day") is an American character actor best known for his portrayal of fictional frontman Otis Day of Otis Day and the Knights in '' National Lampoon's Animal House''. In the movie, the songs " Shama Lama Ding Dong" and " Shout" were sung by Lloyd G. Williams and lip-synched by Jessie. In the 1980s, Jessie purchased the rights to the band name Otis Day and The Knights from Universal Studios and formed a real-life version of the band with some members of his family and toured the country for years afterward, with Jessie assuming the identity of Otis Day. The group released a concert video, ''Otis My Man'', in 1987 and recorded an album, produced by George Clinton, that came out in 1989 titled ''Shout'' which flopped. It included updated versions of "Shout" and "Shama Lama Ding Dong" sung by Jessie. Ron Jessie
Ron Ray Jessie (February 4, 1948 – January 13, 2006) was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. He played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks. Early years Jessie attended Yuma High School where he was a three-sport athlete: all-division in basketball, all-state in football and track & field. After high school, he initially enrolled at Arizona Western College, before transferring to Imperial Valley College, where he played as a wide receiver and was a part of the track & field squad. Jessie received a scholarship from the University of Kansas where he also practiced both sports. He was a part of the school's national championship track team in 1969, while winning the NCAA indoor long jump championship with a leap of 25–2.5 and receiving All-American honors.
