''Jeopardy!'' is a British game show based on the US version of the same title. It was originally aired on Channel 4 from January 12, 1983, to July 2, 1984, hosted by Derek Hobson, then was revived by ITV from September 3, 1990, to April 9, 1993, first hosted by Chris Donat in 1990 and then hosted by Steve Jones from 1991 to 1993 and then finally on Sky One from December 4, 1995, to June 7, 1996, hosted by Paul Ross. On 27 February 2023, ITV announced that the show would be revived for the third time in the autumn (the second time on ITV). A game show is a genre of broadcast viewing entertainment (radio, television, internet, stage or other) where contestants compete for a reward. These programs can either be participatory or demonstrative and are typically directed by a host, sharing the rules of the program as well as commentating and narrating where necessary. On most game shows, contestants either have to answer questions or solve puzzles, typically to win either money or prizes. Sky One
Sky One was a British pay television channel operated and owned by Sky Group (a division of Comcast). Originally launched on 26 April 1982 as Satellite Television, it was Europe's first satellite and non- terrestrial channel. From 31 July 1989, it became Sky One and broadcast exclusively in the United Kingdom and Ireland as British Sky Broadcasting's flagship channel, being the most watched television service in history. Alex Trebek
George Alexander Trebek (; July 22, 1940 – November 8, 2020) was a Canadian-American game show host and television personality. He is best known for hosting the syndicated general knowledge quiz game show ''Jeopardy!'' for 37 seasons from its revival in 1984 until his death in 2020. Trebek also hosted a number of other game shows, including ''The Wizard of Odds'', '' Double Dare'', '' High Rollers'', '' Battlestars'', '' Classic Concentration'', and '' To Tell the Truth''. He also made appearances, usually as himself, in numerous films and television series. A native of Canada, Trebek became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1998. Arthur Fleming Fazzin (May 1, 1924 – April 25, 1995) was an American actor and television host. He hosted the first version of the television game show ''Jeopardy!'', which aired on NBC from 1964 until 1975 and again from 1978 to 1979. Early life Fleming was born in New York City. His parents, William and Marie Fazzin, had immigrated to the United States from Austria. They were a popular dance team in Europe and brought their show to America. Their son Art was a varsity letterman football player at James Monroe High School in New York City, standing , weighing . He later attended Colgate and Cornell Universities, starring on the football team, as well as water polo teams at both colleges. Fleming was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy for three and a half years as the pilot of a patrol bomber in the Atlantic.
