July 2023 Tel Aviv Attack
On 4 July 2023, a Palestinian resident of the West Bank carried out a vehicle-ramming and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv, Israel. Hamas later claimed that the individual was a member and the attack in response to the July 2023 Jenin incursion. Background During 2023, Israel carried out incursions into Jenin, West Bank, in January, June and July. Attack On 4 July 2023, a 20-year-old Palestinian man from As-Samu in the West Bank injured nine people in Tel Aviv, Israel. He deliberately drove a pickup truck into pedestrians on Pinchas Rosen Street in the north of the city. He then got out of the vehicle and stabbed one of them in the neck. A motorcyclist shot the attacker dead. Out of the injured, a seriously injured pregnant woman lost her unborn child. Reaction Hamas said he was a member of their Islamist Palestinian nationalist militant group. January 2023 Jenin Incursion
On 26 January 2023, the Israel Border Police and the Israeli army conducted an armed raid on the Jenin refugee camp, which is in Area A of the Israeli-occupied West Bank and under Palestinian civil authority. According to ''The Jerusalem Post'', the objective was to prevent a planned terrorist strike and arrest three wanted Islamic Jihad militants. Nine Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces during the ensuing clashes, one of whom was an elderly woman. On 29 January, another Palestinian succumbed to wounds received during the raid, bringing the total killed to ten. It was the deadliest Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp in nearly 20 years. The Israeli government said at least six of those killed were armed men. The deaths brought the number of Palestinians killed in 2023 to thirty, 20 of whom were killed in Jenin. As-Samu
As Samu' or es-Samu' ( ar, السموع) () is a town in the Hebron Governorate of the West Bank, Palestine, 12 kilometers south of the city of Hebron and 60 kilometers southwest of Jerusalem. Geography The area is a hilly, rocky area cut by some wadis. The Armistice Demarcation Line (ADL, Green line) runs generally east to west approximately five kilometers south of as-Samu'. The village of as-Samu' is located on twin hills with a wadi varying from shallow to deep between them.
