Jerome County
Jerome County is a county in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 Census the county had a population of 22,374. The county seat and largest city is Jerome. The county was created by the Idaho Legislature on February 8, 1919, by a partition of Lincoln County. It was named after either Jerome Hill, a developer of the North Side Irrigation Project, his son-in-law Jerome Kuhn, or his grandson Jerome Kuhn, Jr. Jerome County is part of the Twin Falls, ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Minidoka Relocation Camp, one of ten Japanese American internment camps set up during World War II, was located in Jerome County, six miles (9.6 km) north of Eden. A census is the procedure of systematically acquiring, recording and calculating information about the members of a given population. State Highway 79 (SH-79) is a short state highway in Jerome, Idaho. It comprises an overpass for Lincoln Avenue at an interchange with Interstate 84 (I-84) south of the city, measuring less than long. Until 2007, the highway extended north to downtown Jerome, where it terminated at SH-25. Route description SH-79 is wholly located within an interchange between Interstate 84 (I-84) and Lincoln Avenue in southern Jerome. The route is long and comprises the four-lane Lincoln Avenue overpass and portions of the roadway between the interchange's ramps. State Highway 25 (SH-25) is a state highway in Idaho, United States, that runs east-west from Jerome in the west to Interstate 84 (I-84) north of Declo in the east. Idaho State Highway 25 also passes through Eden, Hazleton, Paul and Rupert. Route description SH-25 begins at a diamond interchange with I-84 before traveling due east as Main Street into the town of Jerome, where it intersects SH-79. After leaving the town, SH-25 continues due east through farmland, passing by Jerome County Airport and coming to a junction with US 93. SH-25 curves southeast before intersecting SH-50 and turning east again, passing through the towns of Eden and Hazelton. U.S. Route 93 (US 93) is a major north–south numbered highway in the western United States. The southern terminus is at US 60 in Wickenburg, Arizona. The northern terminus is at the Canadian border north of Eureka in Lincoln County, Montana, where the roadway continues into Roosville, British Columbia, as Highway 93. Interstate 84 (I-84) in the U.S. state of Idaho is a major Interstate Highway that traverses the state from the Oregon state line in the northwest to Utah state line in the southeast. It primarily follows the Snake River across a plain that includes the cities of Boise, Mountain Home, and Twin Falls. The highway is one of the busiest in Idaho and is designated as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway. Minidoka County, Idaho
Minidoka County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,613. The county seat and largest city is Rupert. Minidoka County is part of the Burley, ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name Minidoka is of Dakota Sioux origin meaning "a fountain or spring of water." Minidoka was first used in 1883 as a name for the Union Pacific's Oregon Short Line, a railroad spur in the middle of the Snake River Plain. The spur later became the site of a watering station along the line. The village of Minidoka grew up next to the station. The Minidoka name was then given to a reclamation project under then President Theodore Roosevelt which included the construction of the Minidoka Dam, completed in 1904. Minidoka National Historic Site (in adjacent Jerome County) was part of the original reclamation project and hence shares the name.
