James Naughton
James Naughton (born December 6, 1945) is an American actor and director. On television he is best known as astronaut Pete Burke in the 1974 single-season television series ''Planet of the Apes''. He won Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical in 1990 for '' City of Angels'', and again in 1997 for the role of lawyer Billy Flynn in the long-running revival of the musical ''Chicago''. Early life Naughton was born in Middletown, Connecticut, the son of Rosemary (née Walsh) and Joseph Naughton, both of whom were teachers. He is the elder brother of actor David Naughton. ''Whose Life Is It Anyway?'' is a play by Brian Clark adapted from his 1972 television play of the same title, which starred Ian McShane. The stage version premiered at the Greenwich Theatre in SE London before moving in 1978 to the Mermaid Theatre in London, and subsequently opened on Broadway in 1979. The play involves a sculptor who is paralysed. Plot Set in a hospital room, the action revolves around Ken Harrison (Claire Harrison in some later productions), a sculptor by profession, who was paralysed from the neck down ( quadriplegia) in a car accident and is determined to be allowed to die. Clark presents arguments both in favour of and opposing euthanasia and to what extent government should be allowed to interfere in the life of a private citizen. ''Trauma Center'' is an American medical drama that aired on ABC from September 22, 1983 to December 8, 1983. In the run-up to the 1983–84 fall season, the series was promoted on-air and in the Fall Preview issue of ''TV Guide'' as ''Medstar'', but was changed to ''Trauma Center'' prior to the first air-date. ''Making the Grade'' is an American sitcom which aired on CBS from April 5 until May 10, 1982. It starred James Naughton, Graham Jarvis, Alley Mills, Steven Peterman, and boasted the first TV series roles for Philip Charles MacKenzie and George Wendt. It was set at Franklin High School in St. Louis, and aired as a part of CBS' Monday night comedy lineup. The theme song was a modified version of Tom Scott's "Heading Home", which appeared on his ''Street Beat'' album three years earlier. Ronald Robert Harper (January 12, 1933 – March 21, 2024) was an American television and film actor. Life and career Ronald Robert Harper was born in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. After earning straight A's at Turtle Creek High School, he went to Princeton University, where he was a member of the University Players. He was offered a fellowship to study law at Harvard but chose instead to study acting under Lee Strasberg. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Harper returned to New York. Roderick Andrew Anthony Jude McDowall (17 September 1928 – 3 October 1998) was a British-American actor whose career spanned over 270 screen and stage roles across over 60 years.
