Jacob Clinton Wilson (born July 29, 1990) is an American former professional baseball utility player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros, and in the KBO League for the Lotte Giants. Early life and education Born in Bartlett, Tennessee, Wilson graduated from Bartlett High School Wilson played college baseball at the University of Memphis for the Tigers from 2009 to 2012. As a senior, he was the Conference USA Player of the Year after hitting .320 with 17 home runs and a 1.009 OPS. Career St. Louis Cardinals Wilson was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 10th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field, between first base and third base. Standard arrangement of positions In a game of baseball, two teams of nine players take turns playing offensive and defensive roles. The Memphis Redbirds are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They are located in Memphis, Tennessee, and are named for their Major League Baseball affiliate. The Palm Beach Cardinals are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. On-base plus slugging (OPS) is a sabermetric baseball statistic calculated as the sum of a player's on-base percentage and slugging percentage. The ability of a player both to get on base and to hit for power, two important offensive skills, are represented. An OPS of .800 or higher in Major League Baseball puts the player in the upper echelon of hitters. Typically, the league leader in OPS will score near, and sometimes above, the 1.000 mark.
