Istanbul Foundation For Culture And Arts
The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts ( tr, İstanbul Kültür Sanat Vakfı, İKSV) is a non-profit foundation, based in Turkey. It was founded in 1973 by seventeen businesspeople and art enthusiasts led by Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı The goal of the foundation is to turn Istanbul into a major center within the international culture and arts community. The first international event initiated by the foundation was the ''Istanbul Festival'', first held at 1973, coinciding with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Turkish Republic. Currently, the foundation coordinates several annual festivals and biennials, a performance hall and other cultural operations linked to its purpose. The foundation is currently based at Sishane, at the Nejat Eczacıbaşı Building (formerly called Deniz Palas). Bülent Eczacıbaşı
Bülent Eczacıbaşı (, born 1949) is a Turkish businessman. Currently, he serves as chairman of the board at Eczacıbaşı Holding, a prominent Turkish conglomerate. Background Bülent Eczacıbaşı was born in İstanbul in 1949 to Nejat Eczacıbaşı (1913–1993), founder of the Eczacıbaşı Group of Companies, and his wife Fatma Beyhan (née Ergene) (1923–2004) in Istanbul. He has a younger brother Faruk, who was born in 1954. Bülent Eczacıbaşı graduated from Imperial College London after his secondary education at the Deutsche Schule Istanbul. Nejat Eczacıbaşı
Mehmet Nejat Ferit Eczacıbaşı (; January 5, 1913–October 6, 1993) was a chemist, industrialist, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and a second-generation member of the notable Turkish Eczacıbaşı family. He was the founder of Eczacıbaşı, a prominent Turkish industrial group with investments in pharmaceuticals, personal care products, consumer products, building products and financial services. Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation For The Dialogue Between Cultures
The Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures is a network of civil society organisations dedicated to promoting intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean region. It was set up in 2005 by the governments of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (Euromed), a political agreement made in 1995 between the European Union and Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Syria and Turkey. It is named in honour of Anna Lindh, the Swedish Foreign Minister who was murdered in 2003. The name was put forward by Egypt at a meeting 25 September 2003. Istanbul Film Festival
The Istanbul Film Festival ( tr, İstanbul Film Festivali) is the first and oldest international film festival in Turkey, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. It is held every year in April in movie theaters in Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul Jazz Festival
The Istanbul Jazz Festival, formerly Istanbul Festival, ( tr, İstanbul Caz Festivali) is a cultural event held every July in Istanbul, Turkey. It offers a selection of jazz music performances with the participations of famous artists from all over the world. The festival was first held in 1994 and is organized by the Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts. Its main sponsor is Garanti BBVA. The festival had its beginnings in a concert given by Chick Corea and Steve Kujala on July 8, 1984, as a part of Istanbul Music Festival. Istanbul Biennial
The Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition that has been held biennially in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The Biennial has been organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) since its inception. Format Istanbul Biennial adheres to an exhibition model in which the curator, appointed by an international advisory board, develops a conceptual framework according to which a variety of artists and projects are invited to the exhibition.
