Iranian Cars
Iran’s automotive industry is the third most active industry of the country, after its oil and gas industry, accounting for 10% of Iran's GDP and 4% of the workforce (700,000 person). Iran developed a significant automotive industry with annual production of up to 200,000 units under the Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi's regime. But after the Iranian Revolution of 1979 production drastically decreased due to Iran–Iraq War and international sanctions. Since the early 2000s, automobile production in Iran has grown exponentially. Iran's automobile production crossed the 1 million mark in 2007/2008. Today, Iran is the 20th largest automaker in the world and one of the largest in Asia, with annual production of more than 1.6 million. In 2009, Iran ranked fifth in car production growth standing next to China, Taiwan, Romania and India. Samand LX Kermanshah
The IKCO Samand is an Iranian sedan produced by IKCO. The Samand production project began in 2001 and the first car was sold in 2001. The Samand inherits the mantle of Iran's national automobile from the Paykan, which was sold by Iran Khodro from 1967 to 2005. Engine and components The Iranian-designed Samand uses the Peugeot 405 platform, equipped with either IKCO-designed EF7 engines or PSA XU7JP/L3 engines, amongst others. IKCO manufactures 80% of Samand's parts domestically, including its Iranian-designed engine. For export markets (and also the Iranian market), IKCO uses the Peugeot TU5JP4 engine. This is because the TU5 is a low-consumption and powerful engine, and because of the ease of finding its parts all over Europe, since the TU5 has been used for the Peugeot 206, Peugeot 307 and Peugeot 207. Kish Khodro
Kish Khodro is an Iranian car company established in 1995 and registered in Kish Island. It was owned by Mohammad Saffari (51%), Bank of Industry and Mine (40%) and Kamran Naghdi, the Managing Director of BMS Automotives Ltd from the United Kingdom (9%) who sold the license to manufacture, designed the prototype and provided the know how and the production plant. The production line was launched in 2000. Company ownership changed to 52%/41%/7% in 2002. The purpose for creation of Kish Khodro was to produce a vehicle named Sinad. Bahman Group
Bahman Group ( fa, , ''Gruh-e Bahman'') is an Iranian car manufacturer which was originally registered under the name Iran Gulf Company on February 5, 1953. During the first seven years of its operations, the company was involved in maritime transportation. It then launched the production of three-wheeler Mazda pickup trucks. Soon after, following production of the Mazda Pick-up 1000 cc and 1600 cc, the name of the company was changed to “Mazda Car Manufacturing Plant”, and then renamed it to “Iran Vanet”.
