Ion Irimescu
Acad. Prof. Dr. Honoris Causa Ion Irimescu (27 February 1903 – 29 October 2005) was one of Romania's greatest sculptors and sketchers as well as a list of members of the Romanian Academy, member of the Romanian Academy. In 2001 he was awarded the Prize of Excellence for Romanian Culture. He is often referred to as the "patriarch of Romanian art and sculpture". Biography The Romanian artist was the son of Petre Irimescu and Maria Cazaban; he had two brothers: Alexandru and Verona. After the graduation of Primary School No. 1 Fălticeni in 1915, he followed the secondary course at "Nicu Gane" College from the same city (1915-1924), where he took part in the theatre, creating the decorations. Between 1924 and 1928, he was a student at Bucharest National University of Arts, where his instructors included Dimitrie Paciurea and Oscar Han. Fălticeni
Fălticeni (; ''german: Foltischeni; hu, Falticsén;'' he, פלטיצ'ן yi, פאלטישאן) is a town in Suceava County, northeastern Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Western Moldavia. Fălticeni is the second largest urban settlement in the county, with a population of 24,619 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. It was declared a municipality in 1995, along with two other cities in Suceava County: Rădăuți and Câmpulung Moldovenesc. Fălticeni covers an area of , of which 25% are orchards and lakes, and it administers two villages: Șoldănești and Țarna Mare. It was the capital of former Baia County (1929–1950). The town is known for the high number of Romanian writers, artists, and scientists who were born, lived, studied, or have created here.
