Indiana's 3rd Congressional District
Indiana's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Indiana. Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Fort Wayne, the district takes in the northeastern part of the state. In 2023, this district will include all of Adams County, Indiana, Adams, Allen County, Indiana, Allen, Blackford County, Indiana, Blackford, DeKalb County, Indiana, DeKalb, Huntington County, Indiana, Huntington, LaGrange County, Indiana, LaGrange, Noble County, Indiana, Noble, Steuben County, Indiana, Steuben, Wells County, Indiana, Wells and Whitley County, Indiana, Whitley counties, as well as northern Jay County, Indiana, Jay and northeast Kosciusko County, Indiana, Kosciusko counties. The district is currently represented by Republican Party (United States), Republican Jim Banks who succeeded fellow Republican Marlin Stutzman. Jim Banks
James Edward Banks (born July 16, 1979) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2017. A Republican, he previously served as a member of the Indiana Senate from 2010 to 2016. Early life and career Banks was born in Columbia City, Indiana. He worked in the real estate and construction industry in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before serving in elected office. Banks serves in the United States Navy Reserve as a Supply Corps officer. From 2014 to 2015, he took a leave of absence from the Indiana State Senate to serve in Afghanistan. From 2008 to 2010, Banks served on the Whitley County Council from the at-large district. He won the primary after defeating incumbent County Councilman Scott Darley. He was succeeded by Paula Reimers on the County Council. Banks also chaired the Whitley County Republican Party from 2007 to 2011. He was succeeded by Matt Boyd as chair. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. Barack Hussein Obama II ( ; born August 4, 1961) is an American politician who served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Obama was the first African-American president of the United States. John McCain
John Sidney McCain III (August 29, 1936 – August 25, 2018) was an American politician and United States Navy officer who served as a United States senator from Arizona from 1987 until his death in 2018. He previously served two terms in the United States House of Representatives and was the Republican nominee for president of the United States in the 2008 election, which he lost to Barack Obama. McCain graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958 and received a commission in the United States Navy. He became a naval aviator and flew ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, McCain almost died in the 1967 USS ''Forrestal'' fire. While on a bombing mission during Operation Rolling Thunder over Hanoi in October 1967, he was shot down, seriously injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese.
