Ignasi Giménez Renom
Ignasi Giménez Renom (born 29 October 1979, Castellar del Vallès) is the mayor of Castellar del Vallès (Barcelona, Spain). After having earning his PhD in law at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, Renom worked as a journalist in Cadena Ser and in the City council of Badia del Vallès. Weeks after the murder of Ernest Lluch, Ignasi Giménez affiliated to the Socialists' Party of Catalonia and in the Spanish municipal elections of 2003 became a councillor of Castellar of Vallès by the socialist municipal group. At the end of October 2004 he became First Secretary of the socialist local association and in 2005 was chosen as a candidate to the mayorship in the municipal elections of 27 May 2007, with the support of the political platform Castellar en positiu. Castellar del Vallès is a Spanish municipality of Catalonia in the comarca of Vallès Occidental. It is located 7 km from Sabadell and 11 km from Terrassa, the comarca's two capitals. Badia del Vallès is a town and municipality in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. History The township has its beginnings in the 1960s by a government plan aimed at creating a residential area on the outskirts of the towns of Barberà del Vallès and Cerdanyola del Vallès made up of 11,054 homes and all services relating thereto. In 1970 the first phase began with the construction of the first 4,156 homes, 98 premises and internal development. Ernest Lluch
Ernest Lluch Martín, (21 January 1937 – 21 November 2000) was a Spanish economist and politician, member of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC). He was Minister of Health and Consumption from 1982 to 1986 in the first Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) government of Felipe González. He was assassinated in 2000 by the Basque separatist organisation, ETA. Background Lluch was born in Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona province. He earned a PhD in Economic Sciences at the University of Barcelona (UB), and studied further at the Sorbonne in Paris.
