I Need A Man (Eurythmics Song)
"I Need a Man" is a song recorded by British pop music duo Eurythmics. It was written by band members Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart and produced by Stewart. Taken from their sixth album, '' Savage'' (1987), the song was released as the third single in the UK and the first single in the United States. The track is a pop/rock number with an aggressive, commanding vocal performance by Lennox, in which she explains all of the things she does not want in a man ("''...and he don't wear a dress!''"). The music video was the second part of a series directed by Sophie Muller. Part one, for the song "Beethoven (I Love to Listen To)", ended with Lennox's character leaving her home after transforming herself from a neurotic housewife into a disco vixen à la Marilyn Monroe. The twelve-inch single (often written as 12-inch or 12″) is a type of vinyl ( polyvinyl chloride or PVC) gramophone record that has wider groove spacing and shorter playing time with a 'single' or a few related sound tracks on each surface, compared to LPs (long play) which have several songs on each side. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent (historian), David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts.
