INSAINTS
The Insaints were an American punk rock group from Modesto, California, Modesto and later San Francisco, California, United States, fronted by controversial vocalist Marian Anderson (Insaints), Marian Anderson from 1988-1994. She was noted for her powerful, sexually charged and provocative live performances which frequently included on-stage nudity and sex acts. The Insaints made Bay Area headlines when Anderson was arrested for lewd conduct after a performance at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. The charges were eventually dropped after a year long legal battle, but the band broke up in 1994. In 2001, Anderson died of a heroin overdose at the age of 33. In 2005, the group reformed under the same name with Eva Von Slut as its new vocalist. Marian Anderson (born Marian Jennifer Holloway, August 13, 1968 – November 4, 2001) was an American punk rock singer in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. She was the lead singer of the band the INSAINTS, Insaints and performed at the 924 Gilman Street project in Berkeley, California, Berkeley, where she was arrested for lewd and lascivious acts in 1993, claimed her acts were protected artistic speech, and was eventually acquitted. Anderson died of a heroin overdose in 2001. Early life Holloway was born in San Francisco, California, on August 13, 1968, the first child born to Jennifer Justus and Rex Marion Holloway. New Wave Music
New wave is a music genre that encompasses pop music, pop-oriented styles from the 1970s through the 1980s. It is considered a lighter and more melodic "broadening of Punk subculture, punk culture". Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus (band), Bauhaus, and the Cure. Psychobilly (or punkabilly) is a rock music fusion genre that fuses elements of rockabilly and punk rock. Texas Terri (born Terri Laird, April 6, 1955) is an American punk rock singer, songwriter and actress, originally from Austin, Texas, United States. Texas Terri has been compared to Wendy O. Williams and others by the music press. Bryan Keith "Dexter" Holland (born December 29, 1965) is an American musician, best known as the co-founder, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, main songwriter and composer, and only constant member of the punk rock band the Offspring. He co-founded with former bandmate Greg K. the record label Nitro Records, which he previously owned. Holland holds a PhD in molecular biology.
