Entombed is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1987 under the name of Nihilist. Entombed began their career as an early pioneer of Scandinavian death metal which initially differed from its American counterpart by its distinct "buzzsaw" guitar tone. Death 'n' Roll
Death 'n' roll (portmanteau of ''death'' metal and rock'' 'n' roll'') is a subgenre of death metal music that incorporates hard rock-inspired elements. The achieved effect is that of death metal's trademark combination of growled vocals and highly distorted detuned guitar riffing with elements reminiscent of 1970s hard rock and heavy metal. Notable examples include Entombed, Gorefest, Carcass, Xysma, Convulse, Kaptain Sun, Six Feet Under, Pungent Stench and the Fernando Colunga Ultimate Experience. History While the "death 'n' roll" tag was first associated with Entombed, Daniel Ekeroth associates the style with a previous group called Furbowl. After Entombed's release, '' Wolverine Blues'', the band became associated with what the music press dubbed as "death 'n' roll", a label which has followed Entombed's career ever since. In the years following the album's release, the sound was embraced by Dismember on '' Massive Killing Capacity'' (1995), Carcass on '' ...

Thrash Metal
Thrash metal (or simply thrash) is an Extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and fast tempo.Kahn-Harris, Keith, ''Extreme Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge'', pp. 2–3, 9. Oxford: Berg, 2007, . The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with Shred guitar, shredding-style lead guitar work. The genre emerged in the early 1980s as musicians began fusing the double bass drumming and complex guitar stylings of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) with the speed and aggression of hardcore punk and the technicality of progressive rock. Philosophically, thrash metal developed as a backlash against both the conservatism of the Reagan era and the much more moderate, Pop music, pop-influenced, and widely accessible heavy metal subgenre of glam metal which also developed concurrently in the 1980s. Derived genres include crossover thrash, a fusion of thrash metal and hardcore punk. Th ...

Morning Star (Entombed Album)
''Morning Star'' is the seventh studio album by Swedish metal band Entombed, released on 3 September 2001. The album is more experimental than previous efforts, and shows the band returning to a more traditional death metal sound overall, though without abandoning elements of death 'n' roll. It also introduces a handful of straightforward, fast-paced death/ thrash tracks, a first for the band at the time. Musical style, writing, and composition The lyrics for the song "I for an Eye" were written by Orvar Säfström who was also stand-in vocalist for the band in 1991 on the EP ''Crawl''. The song "When It Hits Home" is influenced by the 1997 film ''The Devil's Advocate''. The lyrics to "Chief Rebel Angel" are in several cases based on quotes from ''The Devil's Advocate'' film: * John Milton: "I'm here on the ground with my nose in it since the whole thing began! I've nurtured every sensation man has been inspired to have! I cared about what he wanted and I never judged him! ...
