37 (number)
37 (thirty-seven) is the natural number following 36 and preceding 38. In mathematics 37 is the 12th prime number, and the 3rd isolated prime without a twin prime. 37 is the first irregular prime with irregularity index of 1, where the smallest prime number with an irregularity index of 2 is the thirty-seventh prime number, 157. The smallest magic square, using only primes and 1, contains 37 as the value of its central cell: Its magic constant is 37 x 3 = 111, where 3 and 37 are the first and third base-ten unique primes (the second such prime is 11). 37 requires twenty-one steps to return to 1 in the Collatz problem, as do adjacent numbers 36 and 38. The two closest numbers to cycle through the elementary Collatz pathway are 5 and 32, whose sum is 37; also, the trajectories for 3 and 21 both require seven steps to reach 1. On the other hand, the first two integers that return 0 for the Mertens function ( 2 and 39) have a difference of 37, where the ...

Murder Of Kitty Genovese
In the early hours of March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese, a 28-year-old bartender, was raped and stabbed outside the apartment building where she lived in the Kew Gardens neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City, United States. Two weeks after the murder, ''The New York Times'' published an article claiming that thirty-seven witnesses saw or heard the attack, and that none of them called the police or came to her aid. However, subsequent investigations revealed that the extent of public apathy was exaggerated. While some neighbors heard her cries, many did not realize the severity of the situation. The incident prompted inquiries into what became known as the bystander effect, or "Genovese syndrome", and the murder became a staple of U.S. psychology textbooks for the next four decades. Researchers have since uncovered major inaccuracies in the ''Times'' article, and police interviews revealed that some witnesses had attempted to contact authorities. In 1964, reporters at ...

Rubidium
Rubidium is a chemical element; it has Symbol (chemistry), symbol Rb and atomic number 37. It is a very soft, whitish-grey solid in the alkali metal group, similar to potassium and caesium. Rubidium is the first alkali metal in the group to have a density higher than Properties of water, water. On Earth, natural rubidium comprises two isotopes: 72% is a stable isotope Rb, and 28% is slightly radioactive Rb, with a half-life of 48.8 billion years – more than three times as long as the estimated age of the universe. German chemists Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff discovered rubidium in 1861 by the newly developed technique, Atomic emission spectroscopy#Flame emission spectroscopy, flame spectroscopy. The name comes from the Latin word , meaning deep red, the color of its emission spectrum. Rubidium's compounds have various chemical and electronic applications. Rubidium metal is easily vaporized and has a convenient spectral absorption range, making it a frequent target for ...

37 Fides
37 Fides () is a large main-belt asteroid. It was discovered by German astronomer Karl Theodor Robert Luther on October 5, 1855, and named after Fides, the Roman goddess of loyalty. Fides was the last of the main-belt asteroids to be assigned an iconic symbol, a Latin cross U+271D ✝ (). 37 Fides is also a S-type asteroid in the Tholen classification system. Photometric observations of this asteroid at multiple observatories during 1981–82 gave an unusual light curve In astronomy, a light curve is a graph (discrete mathematics), graph of the Radiance, light intensity of a celestial object or region as a function of time, typically with the magnitude (astronomy), magnitude of light received on the ''y''-axis ... with three minima and maxima. The curve changed with varying phase angle of the asteroid relative to the viewer and the position of the Sun, indicating the changing influence of shadows cast by surface features. The composite light curve has a best fit peri ...
