Huw Irranca-Davies
Ifor Huw Irranca-Davies (; born 22 January 1963) is a Welsh Labour and Co-operative politician who has served as Deputy First Minister of Wales since August 2024, and as Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs since March 2024. He has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Ogmore since 2016. Irranca-Davies was previously the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ogmore from 2002 to 2016. Having served as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Northern Ireland Office, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, he became an Assistant Whip in May 2006. On 29 June 2007, he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Wales, before being promoted to the role of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. A member of the Senedd (MS; plural: ''MSs''; ; , plural: ) is a representative elected to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ). Deputy First Minister Of Wales
The deputy first minister of Wales () is the deputy leader of the Welsh Government. The post was created in October 2000 when Mike German of the Welsh Liberal Democrats was appointed Deputy First Minister as part of a coalition government with Welsh Labour. Since the office was created, the holder has traditionally been the party leader of the junior partner in coalition with Welsh Labour, though this changed in 2024 with the appointment of Labour's Huw Irranca-Davies in the Labour government of Eluned Morgan. Ifor Davies
Ifor Davies (9 June 1910 – 6 June 1982), born Ivor Davies, was a Welsh Labour politician who was the MP for Gower from 1959 until his death. Background Davies was born in Gowerton, Swansea, the youngest of the six children of Jeffrey Davies and Elizabeth Jane Thomas. His father was employed in the local tinplate mill. He was educated at Gowerton School, Swansea Technical College and Ruskin College, Oxford, and then worked as an industrial personnel officer. Political career From 1958 to 1961, Davies served as a councillor on Glamorgan County Council. Prior to election to Parliament, he was election agent to his predecessor David Grenfell. Gowerton
Gowerton ( ) is a large village and community, about northwest of Swansea city centre, Wales. Gowerton is often known as the gateway to the Gower Peninsula. Gowerton's original name was Ffosfelin. The village falls within the Gowerton electoral ward of the City and County of Swansea Council, which elects one councillor. The community had a population of 5,212 and the built-up area with Waunarlwydd 8,183. Christopher Philip James Elmore (born 23 December 1983) is a Welsh Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bridgend, previously Ogmore, since 2016. He has been Comptroller of the Household (Government Whip) since 10 July 2024. Sir Raymond Powell (19 June 1928 – 7 December 2001) was a Welsh politician who served as the Labour Member of Parliament for Ogmore. He continued as constituency MP until his death. Background Powell was born at Treorchy, Mid Glamorgan, in 1928.
