Alexander Von Humboldt
Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Alexander von Humboldt (14 September 17696 May 1859) was a German polymath, geographer, naturalist, explorer, and proponent of Romantic philosophy and science. He was the younger brother of the Prussian minister, philosopher, and linguist Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767–1835). Humboldt's quantitative work on botanical geography laid the foundation for the field of biogeography. Humboldt's advocacy of long-term systematic geophysical measurement laid the foundation for modern geomagnetic and meteorological monitoring. Between 1799 and 1804, Humboldt travelled extensively in the Americas, exploring and describing them for the first time from a modern Western scientific point of view. His description of the journey was written up and published in several volumes over 21 years. Humboldt–Hospital Station
Humboldt–Hospital is a Buffalo Metro Rail station located at the western terminus of Kensington Avenue and Main Street and is the only station with entrances on both sides of the Main Street for passengers to enter and exit from. To not confuse, Kensington Avenue rejoins Main Street in Snyder, New York at its eastern terminus. Since Humboldt–Hospital station served as a terminal due to Amherst Street station serving as the northern terminus from May 20, 1985, to November 10, 1986, about 580 feet north is a double crossover. The area near the station is a mix of housing and medical offices, anchored by the Sisters of Charity Hospital. The Parkside residential community is directly to the east of the station and is also a short distance from Delaware Park. Humboldt Station (Saskatchewan)
The Humboldt station is a former railway station in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. It was built by the Canadian Northern Railway along the Winnipeg to Edmonton mainline. The -story, wood-frame, railway station was completed in 1905. The last CNR passenger train (#9 and #10) ended service in 1963 with service restored in 1978; Via Rail railliner served the station in 1980. Humboldt Park, one of 77 designated community areas, is on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. The Humboldt Park neighborhood is known for its dynamic social and ethnic demographic change over the years. The Puerto Rican community has identified strongly with the area since the 1970s. Humboldt County is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 17,285. It is a largely rural county that is sparsely populated with the only major city being Winnemucca which has a population of 8,431. Humboldt County comprises the Winnemucca, NV Micropolitan Statistical Area and serves as an important crossroads in the national transportation network. Humboldt County is a county in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,597. The county seat is Dakota City. The county was created in 1857 and named in honor of Alexander von Humboldt. History Founding Iowa's entry to the union was approved by Congress on March 3, 1845, with statehood beginning on December 28, 1846, following approval of the state's constitution and boundaries.
