Howden Railway Station
Howden railway station serves the town of Howden in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately north of the town in the hamlet of North Howden and is west of . The station is managed by Northern, but is also served by TransPennine Express and Hull Trains. History The station was originally opened by the Hull and Selby Railway (H&SR) on 1 July 1840 as Howden and Bubwith, and was renamed as Howden on 16 April 1869. In 1885 the Hull and Barnsley Railway (H&BR) opened its own Howden station on the northern edge of Howden itself. On 1 July 1922 the H&SR station was renamed North Howden, while the H&BR station was renamed South Howden. North Howden reverted to Howden on 12 June 1961, following South Howden's closure to passengers in 1955. In 1987 Howden station was designated a Grade II listed building and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England. Howden, East Riding Of Yorkshire
Howden () is a market and minster town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Vale of York to the north of the M62, on the A614 road about south-east of York and north of Goole, which lies across the River Ouse. William the Conqueror gave the town to the Bishops of Durham in 1080. The wapentake of Howdenshire was named after the town, and remained an exclave of County Durham until as late as 1846. The original boundaries of the wapentake were used for the current two government wards of Howden and Howdenshire, which had a combined population of 19,753 at the 2011 census. Selby Line
The Selby Line is a secondary railway line in Yorkshire. England, linking Leeds to Selby via Micklefield, and then on to Kingston upon Hull (Hull). Hull Trains, London North Eastern Railway, Northern and TransPennine Express operate passenger trains on the line. In the second half of 2018, a stretch of line between and had all its semaphore signalling and signal boxes decommissioned in favour of digital control overseen by the Rail Operating Centre in York. One of the crossing boxes at Crabley Creek has remained operational and worked by a Network Rail representative as the original deeds for the acquisition of the land by the railway company dictated that as long as the crossing existed, it should be manned. Gilberdyke railway station is a railway station that serves the village of Gilberdyke in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened in 1840 by the Hull and Selby Railway, and until 1974 it was known as Staddlethorpe station. Today it is operated by the Northern train operating company. Brough Railway Station
Brough railway station serves the town of Brough in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is managed by TransPennine Express, and also served by Northern, Hull Trains and London North Eastern Railway. The station was originally opened by the Hull and Selby Railway in 1840 and at one time had four tracks passing through. The course of the additional outer tracks (and the two disused platform faces) are still visible, although these were removed in the early 1970s.
