Holy Trinity (Lotto)
''Holy Trinity'' is an oil-on-canvas painting by Lorenzo Lotto, created ''c.'' 1519–1520. It was produced as an altarpiece for the high altar of Trinità Church in Bergamo, then sited in front of the Church of Santo Spirito. There, it was placed near Lotto's ''Pietà with Saint Joseph and a Female Saint''. The church was suppressed in 1808 and demolished, with the painting acquired by local curate Giovanni Battista Conti. It was later inherited by Giuseppe, a friar, who in 1818 gave it to the Church of Sant'Alessandro della Croce, its present owner. Lorenzo Lotto
Lorenzo Lotto (c. 1480 – 1556/57) was an Italian Painting, painter, draughtsman, and illustrator, traditionally placed in the Venetian school (art), Venetian school, though much of his career was spent in other north Italian cities. He painted mainly altarpieces, religious subjects and portraits. He was active during the High Renaissance and the first half of the Mannerism, Mannerist period, but his work maintained a generally similar High Renaissance style throughout his career, although his nervous and eccentric posings and distortions represented a transitional stage to the Florentine and Roman Mannerists. Sant'Alessandro della Croce is a Baroque architecture, Baroque style, Roman Catholic church located on Via Pignolo in Bergamo, region of Lombardy, Italy. History The church was erected in 1675 at the site of a prior church. The design is attributed to the Trezzini family. The church was complete by 1737, but the facade was not only complete until 1922, in a project by Virgilio Muzio. Among the works inside the church is a ''Coronation of the Virgin'' (1576) by Giovanni Battista Moroni, and canvases by Giovanni Paolo Cavagna and Enea Salmeggia (1621). A canvas of ''St Carlo Borromeo tending those afflicted with plague'' (1720) by Giovanni Battista Parodi. The Museo Adriano Bernareggi, also called the Museo Diocesano Bernareggi is an gallery of sacred art and objects housed in a former aristocratic palace, the Palazzo Bassi-Rathgeb, located on Via Pignolo #76 in Bergamo, Italy. The museum is presently managed by the ''Fondazione Adriano Bernareggi'' in conjunction with the Università degli Studi di Bergamo, and displays eclectic works of art from the 15th-century to present, often paired, and derived mainly from the Bernareggi family, as well as the Diocese of Bergamo.
