Highschool! Kimen-gumi
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Motoei Shinzawa. A first series ''Third Year Funny-face Club'' was serialized in Shueisha's ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'' from October 1980 to April 1982. ''High School! Kimengumi'' was serialized in the same magazine from April 1982 to July 1987. An anime television series aired from October 1985 to September 1987 and an animated film premiered in July 1986. A sequel manga, titled ''Flash! Funny-face Club'', was published in Square Enix's ''Monthly Shōnen Gangan'' from 2001 to 2005. Summary ''High School! Kimengumi'' is an episodic chronicle of the bizarre adventures of a group of misfit junior high school (and later high school) boys who form a club known as the "Kimengumi". All of the character names in the series are puns. For example, "Kawa Yui" is another way of saying "kawaii", and "Uru Chie" is a slang form of "urusai", meaning "obnoxious" or "annoying". is a Japanese manga artist born June 10, 1958, in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. His debut manga was '' Sannen Kimen-gumi'', published in ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'' beginning in 1980. After ''Sannen'' ended in 1982, he began publishing ''Highschool! Kimen-gumi'', also in ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'', until 1987. ''Highschool'' was a smash hit, and an animated version was begun in 1985, running for two years on Fuji TV, along with a movie in 1986 and two video games. Musukko Club
was a short-lived male spin-off idol group of Onyanko Club. They made their debut in 1986 with the song ''Boku-tachi no Season'', and broke up after their February 15, 1987 concert at Nippon Budokan. The seven members of the group were Ken Iwashiro, Shūsuke Namiki, Yoshinori Satō, Yōji Sawamukai, Kō Shimizu, Hirotoshi Shinozaki and Hiromitsu Shizuku. Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi
was a female Japanese pop music duo consisting of Yukiko Iwai and Mamiko Takai, formed in 1985. In parallel to their membership in this duo, Iwai and Takai were at the same time members of Onyanko Club, a large pop group widely seen as a precursor to groups such as Morning Musume and AKB48. Onyanko Club sang back-up vocals on some of the songs released by Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi. They are most notable for singing several of the theme songs for the anime television series ''High School! Kimengumi''. Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi debuted on on 30 September 1985. was a large all-girl Japanese pop idol group in the 1980s. Some members of the group participated in spin-off groups, such as Nyangilas, Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi and Ushirogami Hikaretai. Many of the latter two groups' songs were used as theme songs of the popular 80s anime series ''High School! Kimengumi'' and ''Tsuide ni Tonchinkan''.
