High Tide (1987 Film)
''High Tide'' is a 1987 Australian drama film starring Judy Davis, from a script by Laura Jones, about the mother-daughter bond, directed by Gillian Armstrong. Armstrong reported that when she began work on ''High Tide'' she pinned a note above her desk: "Blood ties. Water. Running Away." Jan Adele plays Lilli's mother-in-law Bet, in her film debut. Synopsis Lilli is one of three backing singers for a touring Elvis impersonator until she is fired. Then, left alone at the beginning of winter she is stranded in a ramshackle beach town on the windswept coast of New South Wales. This remote, working class, tourist-town has a pervasive sense of rootlessness and movement. The people survive by changing their occupations with the seasons and work hard in small businesses. Sandra Levy (producer)
Sandra Levy is an Australian film and television producer who has worked in both public and commercial television. Early life and family Levy was born in Sydney. Her parents were Jewish communists from whom she inherited a love of the arts and a capacity for intellectual jousting. She married her second husband Australian television director Michael Carson in the 1970s. They had one son together, Simon, but the couple later divorced. Career Levy was born in Sydney, New South Wales. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a BA majoring in English literature. While at university she was a fringe member of the Sydney Push. Toni Scanlan
Toni Scanlan (born 2 April 1956) is an Australian actress best known for her role in the Australian television police drama '' Water Rats'' as Helen Blakemore. She is one of the only three actors to appear in the series from when it started to when it ended. She was the winner of the Best Actress in a Lead Role at the 2007 Sydney Theatre Awards for her role in ''King Tide'', despite her late call to the role, replacing the lead originally cast. Monica Maria Trápaga (born 1965) is an Australian entertainment presenter, jazz singer and actress.
