''Henryk from the Back Row'' (german: Herr Wichmann aus der dritten Reihe) is a German documentary film directed by Andreas Dresen. The film was released in 2012 and follows the CDU politician Henryk Wichmann as a member of the Landtag of Brandenburg. Production Wichmann was previously the subject of Dresen's documentary ''Herr Wichmann von der CDU''. After Wichmann was elected to the Landtag of Brandenburg in 2009, Dresen had the idea to direct a sequel. Dresen followed Wichmann for one parliamentary year and produced around 100 hours of uncut material, which he edited down to 1.5 hours of uncommented film. Andreas Dresen
Andreas Dresen (born 16 August 1963) is a German film director. His directing credits include '' Cloud 9'', ''Summer in Berlin'', ''Grill Point'' and ''Night Shapes''. His film ''Stopped on Track'' premiered at the Un Certain Regard section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Prize of Un Certain Regard. Dresen is known for his realistic style, which gives his films a semi-documentary feel. He works very teamoriented and heavily uses improvisation. In 2013 he was a member of the jury at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. Early life and education Dresen was born in Gera. From 1984-85 Dresen worked as a sound engineer for the Schwerin Theatre. From 1984-1986 he was a trainee at East Germany's DEFA Studio for Feature Films as an assistant director to Günter Reisch. The Landtag of Brandenburg is the unicameral legislature of the state of Brandenburg in Germany. Its 88 members of parliament are usually elected every 5 years. It is responsible for deciding on state laws, controlling the state government and public administration, deciding on the budget and electing its presidium, state constitutional judges, the members of the state court of audit and the minister president.
