Harry Harper
Harry Clayton Harper (April 24, 1895 – April 23, 1963) was an American professional baseball pitcher, businessman, and politician. He played in Major League Baseball for the Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Brooklyn Robins between 1913 and 1923. Harper started Game 6 of the 1922 World Series for the Yankees. Harper was from Hackensack, New Jersey, and was often called "Hackensack Harry" during and after his baseball career. Harper invested his salaries in his business career while he was a baseball player. After retiring from baseball, Harper entered politics, and won election as sheriff of Bergen County as a Republican. He served in the cabinets of Governors Walter Evans Edge and Alfred E. Driscoll, as the Commissioner of Labor and Industry. He also lost elections to the New Jersey Legislature and United States Congress. Harry Harper (Casualty)
Harry Harper is a fictional character from the BBC One medical drama '' Casualty'', portrayed by actor Simon MacCorkindale. He made his first appearance in the series sixteen episode "Denial", broadcast on 8 June 2002. He ran Holby City Hospital's emergency department for five years, before being elected as a Member of Parliament. His final appearance was in the series twenty-two episode "Thicker Than Water", broadcast on 8 March 2008. MacCorkindale was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2006, and departed from ''Casualty'' after the disease spread to his lungs. He died on 14 October 2010, at the age of 58. Storylines Harry begins working at Holby City Hospital in June 2002. He is pleased when his old flame Selena Donovan ( Liz Carling) arrives to carry out a drugs trial in the department, and invites her to dinner. Herbert Harper (cricketer)
Herbert Harper, also known as Harry Harper (1 February 1889 – 6 August 1983), was an English cricketer who played a single first-class match, for Worcestershire against Yorkshire in 1920. Batting at seven, he was bowled in each innings, for 7 and 3, as Worcestershire went down to an innings defeat. Although that was Harper's only appearance in first-class cricket, he had appeared for Warwickshire's Second XI before the First World War, and scored 115 to help his side to an 11-wicket win (it was a 12-a-side game) against Worcestershire's Second XI in 1909. He also umpired in the Minor Counties Championship in the late 1940s.
