Happy Ever After (1932 Film)
''Happy Ever After'' is a 1932 British-German musical film directed by Paul Martin and Robert Stevenson, and starring Lilian Harvey, Jack Hulbert, Cicely Courtneidge, Sonnie Hale, and Edward Chapman. It was made as a co-production between the London-based Gainsborough Pictures and Germany's UFA. It was one of a series of co-productions between Gainsborough and German firms during the era, but it failed to meet the requirements to qualify as a British quota film. A German-language version '' A Blonde Dream'' and a French-language version (''Un rêve blond'') were filmed at the same time. The film was shot in Berlin at the Babelsberg Studios using principally British actors. The film's sets were designed by the art director Erich Kettelhut. Paul Martin (director)
Paul Martin (8 February 1899 – 26 January 1967) was a Hungarian film director and screenwriter who worked for many years in the German film industry. He directed 60 films between 1932 and 1967. He was romantically involved with the film star Lilian Harvey and directed her in a number of films until he left her in 1938 for the actress Frauke Lauterbach. They made one final film ''Woman at the Wheel'' together during the filming of which their relationship remained cold. Woolf & Freedman Film Service was a UK film distributor which was founded by film producer C. M. Woolf, and which operated from 1919 to 1934. The company distributed more than 140 films over a 15-year period. In 1935, Woolf formed a new company, General Film Distributors. ''Window Cleaners'' is an animated short film produced in Technicolor by Walt Disney Productions and released to theaters on September 20, 1940 by RKO Radio Pictures. Plot Donald Duck is hoisted up on a roped platform while Pluto is pulling Donald up. Donald's hat and tail feathers get trimmed exposing his bare tail. Pluto easily gets distracted by a flea and lets go of the rope and Donald falls but the rope gets entangled by the stop sign and stops the platform, Donald lands on a statue horse. Erich Karl Heinrich Kettelhut (1 November 1893 – 13 March 1979) was a German production designer, art director and set decorator. Kettelhut is considered one of the most important artists in the history of early German cinema, mainly for his set direction for ''Die Nibelungen'' (1924) and his design and visual effects for ''Metropolis'' (1927). His early career was defined by a working relationship with fellow designers Otto Hunte and Karl Vollbrecht, the trio working on many of Fritz Lang's early German films.
