Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur
Hagonoy, officially the Municipality of Hagonoy ( ceb, Lungsod sa Hagonoy; tl, Bayan ng Hagonoy), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 56,919 people. History Before its creation into a municipality, Hagonoy was a sitio of barrio Digos, municipality of Santa Cruz. Then, when the municipality of Padada was created on July 1, 1949, Hagonoy was annexed as one of its barrios. On May 28, 1953, by virtue of Executive Order No. 596 issued by President Elpidio V. Quirino, Hagonoy was separated from Padada and became a regular municipality.Then in early 1970's, batch of Cebuanos came from Danao City, particularly from Caputatan, among them Nathaniel Capuyan and Loselo Capuno Sr., who worked in the sugarcane plantations and settled in barangay Maliit Digos. And from then on plenty of others who came from Caputatan, Danao City followed, and eventually found a place in a land owned by Alejandro Almendra ... Digos City
Digos, officially the City of Digos ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Digos; fil, Lungsod ng Digos), is a 2nd class component city and capital of the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 188,376 people. Alejandro Almendras
Alejandro Durano Almendras (27 February 1919 – 4 August 1995) was a Filipino politician who served as a Senator of the Philippines. He was also governor of the then united Davao province. Early life and education Almendras was born in Danao, Cebu on February 27, 1919 to Paulo Almendras and Elisea Mercado Durano. He finished his secondary education studies at the Cebu Provincial High in 1938. He attended the Far Eastern University taking up aeronautical engineering as his college degree but his studies was interrupted in 1941 due to World War II. After the war, Almendras went back to his studies and attended Mindanao Colleges in Davao City. World War II Almendras was enlisted with the Philippine Army Air Corps during the World War II.
