Enanitos Verdes
Enanitos Verdes (literal translation: "Little green dwarves", roughly equivalent to the English phrase "Little green men") is a rock trio from Argentina, formed in 1979 in the city of Mendoza. History The band started in 1979, with Marciano Cantero (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals), Felipe Staiti (guitar) and Daniel Piccolo drums. That same year, they performed throughout the Cuyo region. Later they traveled to Buenos Aires to record a demo, with unusable results that were never released. In spite of this failure, they continued doing shows in Mendoza and in Buenos Aires. In 1984 the band added two new members: Sergio Embrioni (guitar and vocals) and Tito Dávila (keyboard). As a quintet they published the disc ''Los Enanitos Verdes'', with the hit "Aún sigo cantando" ("I'm still singing"). Embrioni left the band in 1985. The production of the disc was again headed by Andres Calamaro, also with the participation of Alejandro Lerner, León Gieco, and Manuel Wirtz. Marciano Cantero
Marciano Cantero (born Horacio Eduardo Cantero Hernández, 25 August 1960 – 8 September 2022) was an Argentine musician. He was the lead singer and bassist of Enanitos Verdes, an Argentine pop/rock band. Biography Cantero was nine when he first heard the Beatles and The Beach Boys, which he credits as one of his most important influences in his music. Cantero bought a bass guitar that was on sale with his savings, and started to practice with the instrument, helped by his older brother. After graduating high school, his father bought him a brand new bass guitar. He also started attending concerts in the underground circuit during the civil military dictatorship of Argentina. In 1979, he joined Felipe Staiti and Daniel Piccolo to form Enanitos Verdes (lit. "Little Green Dwarves", but more accurately considered equivalent to the phrase "Little Green Men"); they struggled at first, but eventually became idols in Mendoza.
