''Home of Astronauts'' is a 7" vinyl-only covers EP released by Indiana lo-fi/ indie songster Elephant Micah. It was released in October 2004 on Third Uncle Records. Early copies of the EP came with a burned CD of the record, along with eight live tracks, including versions of "Big Star", "Nobody Knows, Rosie", and "Soberer", which would later be released in studio form on the '' Tropical Depression'' EP. Elephant Micah
Elephant Micah is a musical band or stage name of southern Indiana songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joseph O'Connell. Recording mostly at home, O’Connell has produced an eclectic body of work since beginning the project in 2000. Elephant Micah's inconsistently available music has become a cult favorite among some lo-fi/indie and folk rock audiences. O'Connell has released recordings with BlueSanct Records, the experimental-leaning Time-Lag Records, and a number of other very small labels. In addition, he has issued several short-run CDs on his own LRRC (Luddite Rural Recording Cooperative) imprint, also home to music by collaborator Jason Henn. In 2005, Elephant Micah shared bills with Jason Molina's Magnolia Electric Company during a string of shows in the United Kingdom. Lo-fi Music
Lo-fi (also typeset as lofi or low-fi; short for low fidelity) is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections in the context of a recording or performance are present, sometimes as a deliberate choice. The standards of sound quality (fidelity) and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such. Little Feat is an American rock band formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles. George disbanded the group because of creative differences shortly before his death in 1979. Surviving members re-formed Little Feat in 1987 and the band has remained active to the present. The band's music is a mixture of rock and roll, blues, country, R&B and jazz. Guitarist Jimmy Page stated that Little Feat was his favorite American band in a 1975 ''Rolling Stone'' interview.
