Historical Archive Of Valjevo
The Historical Archives of Valjevo () are the primary institution responsible for preservation of archival materials in the Kolubara District located in Valjevo, Serbia. The archive are primarily serving municipalities of Valjevo, Ub, Osečina, Mionica, Lajkovac, and Ljig. The archival centre in the city of Valjevo was established in 1948 as one of six new centres of that kind in Serbia at the time. The building housing the archives was completed in 1907 and at the time it served as one of the buildings of the local hospital. Valjevo
Valjevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Ваљево, ) is a List of cities in Serbia, city and the administrative center of the Kolubara District in western Serbia. According to the 2022 census, the city itself has a population of 56,145 while the city administrative area has 82,169 inhabitants. The city is situated along the river Kolubara. History In the nearby village of Petnica, scientists found the first complete neolithic habitat in Serbia and dated it at 6,000 years old. In Ancient Rome, Roman times this area was part of the province of Moesia. Valjevo was mentioned for the first time in 1393. It was an important staging post on the trade route that connected Bosnia to Belgrade. Valjevo became significant during the 16th and 17th centuries under stable Ottoman Empire, Ottoman rule. European Holocaust Research Infrastructure
The European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) is an international digital infrastructure and community. It is a joint undertaking of Holocaust historians, archivists, and specialists in digital humanities. Through the development of heritage archives into research infrastructures and by connecting the knowledge of heritage archives and making that knowledge relevant for research, EHRI aims to support Holocaust research, commemoration and education. The Kolubara District (, ) is one of administrative districts of Serbia. It occupies the central part of western Serbia. According to the 2022 census, it has a population of 154,497 inhabitants. The administrative center of the Kolubara District is Valjevo. Ub, Serbia
Ub ( sr-cyr, Уб) is a town and municipality located in the Kolubara District of western Serbia. As of 2022, the population of the town is 6,684, while population of the municipality is 25,780 inhabitants. History The first communities established at the municipal territory of Ub, according to the historical traces and traces of human civilization discovered in the current settlements of Trlić, Kalinovac, Brgule, originated from the time of Vinča culture, in the period around 5000 BC. Lajkovac ( sr-cyr, Лајковац) is a town and municipality located in the Kolubara District of western Serbia. As of 2022, it has population of 3,211 inhabitants, while the municipality has 13,825 inhabitants. It is located in the valley of river Kolubara and near the Ibar highway. Ljig
Ljig ( sr-cyr, Љиг) is a town and municipality located in the Kolubara District of western Serbia. It has a population of 2,938 inhabitants, while the municipality has a total of 10,711 inhabitants. It is surrounded by Mount Rajac and Mount Rudnik. History The recorded history of the Ljig settlement itself begins in 1911, when a railroad was built between Lajkovac and Gornji Milanovac. The area, however, has a long history. The Dići church was founded by Serbian nobleman Vlgdrag, who was buried here in 1327. The ruins of the medieval Vavedenje Monastery include impressive sarcophagi dating from the 15th century, believed to belong to the Serbian despots Stefan Branković and Đurađ Branković.
