Him (Rupert Holmes Song)
"Him" is a song written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Rupert Holmes. It was released in January 1980 as the second single from the album, '' Partners in Crime''. The song peaked at number six on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on March 29, 1980 and remained at that position for two weeks. It was Holmes' biggest Adult Contemporary hit, peaking at number four in both the United States and Canada. Background Holmes had always expected "Him" to be the lead-off single to ''Partners in Crime'', but after record executives heard the album, they concluded that " Escape (The Piña Colada Song)", a song Holmes composed mainly as album filler and never expected to be a single, would be a major hit. After "Escape" proved to be a major hit, "Him" was released as a follow-up and itself became a hit. The song is sung from the point of view of a man who, when he discovers a pack of cigarettes that do not belong to him, suspects that the woman in his life is cheating on him. He has ...

Him (Cummings Play)
''Him'' is a three-act play written by poet E.E. Cummings. The play was first published in November 1927 and premiered in New York during the spring of 1928. ''Him'' is sometimes called a precursor to Theatre of the Absurd but has also been described as being surrealistic and in the German expressionist tradition. It is heavily influenced by Freudian psychology as well as popular culture of the 1920s. Background Cummings wrote ''Him'' in Paris and New York. He said of ''Him'', that "the book was probably published soon after the play had finished itself." Cummings had been living in France on and off for most of the 1920s; his time in Paris inspired Act III, Scene III of ''Him'', which takes place at the Parisian restaurant, ''Au Père Tranquille'' (Les Halles). ''Him'' began as a play about a woman named Anna, a playwright named Edward, and Jan, a man who in earliest drafts of the play was a janitor. Around 1926, the play became ''Him'' as it exists in its current form. I ...

Interstellar Medium
The interstellar medium (ISM) is the matter and radiation that exists in the outer space, space between the star systems in a galaxy. This matter includes gas in ionic, atomic, and molecular form, as well as cosmic dust, dust and cosmic rays. It fills interstellar space and blends smoothly into the surrounding intergalactic medium. The energy that occupies the same volume, in the form of electromagnetic radiation, is the interstellar radiation field. Although the density of atoms in the ISM is usually far below that in the best laboratory vacuums, the mean free path between collisions is short compared to typical interstellar lengths, so on these scales the ISM behaves as a gas (more precisely, as a Plasma (physics), plasma: it is everywhere at least slightly ionized), responding to pressure forces, and not as a collection of non-interacting particles. The interstellar medium is composed of multiple phases distinguished by whether matter is ionic, atomic, or molecular, and the temp ...

The last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, also used the style of "Imperial Majesty". Today, the style is assumed by Farah Pahlavi, the exiled Shahbanu of Iran. Incongruously, in modern tim ...

He (pronoun)
In Modern English, ''he'' is a singular, masculine, third-person pronoun. Morphology In Standard Modern English, ''he'' has four shapes representing five distinct word forms: * ''he'': the nominative (subjective) form * ''him'': the accusative (objective) form (also called the oblique case)) * ''his:'' the dependent and independent genitive (possessive) forms * ''himself'': the reflexive form History Old English had a single third-person pronoun — from the Proto-Germanic demonstrative base -, from PIE *''ko''- "this" — which had a plural and three genders in the singular. The modern pronoun '' it'' developed out of the neuter singular, starting to appear without the ''h'' in the 12th century. ''Her'' developed out of the feminine singular dative and genitive forms, while the other feminine forms and the plural were replaced with other words. The older pronoun had the following forms: In the 12th century, ''it'' started to separate and appear without an ''h' ...
