H0m Gauge
The H0m gauge is designed for the reproduction of narrow gauge railways with a prototype gauge of 850 to 1250 mm in H0 scale. The letter ''m'' stands for ''m''etre prototype gauge with a track width of 1000 mm. It runs on TT scale tracks. Modern H0m trains run on realistic-looking two-rail track, which is powered by direct current (varying the voltage applied to the rails to change the speed, and polarity to change direction), or by Digital Command Control (sending commands to a decoder in each locomotive). It is a popular scale in Europe, particularly for trains of Swiss outline. Ready to run models are widely available from companies like Bemo and D+R Modellbahn, a number of companies including, Lemaco and Ferro-suisse, also produced more detailed handmade brass models. HOn3½ Gauge
HOn3 gauge represents the modelling of gauge railways in HO scale, resulting in a model track gauge of (the same as H0m and TT scale). Trains are operated using direct current or Digital Command Control over realistic-looking two-rail track. Railways that use the gauge can be found in New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, Australia, Taiwan, Japan and others. Manufacturers of Australian outline models in this size include Haskell Models, Wuiske Models, Black Diamond, PGC, Southern Rail and SDS Models. The main focus for Australian narrow gauge modelling has been the large Queensland railway system. More recent releases have included Tasmanian and Western Australian prototypes. Z Scale
Z scale is one of the smallest commercially available model railway scales (1:220), with a track gauge of . Introduced by Märklin in 1972, Z scale trains operate on 0–10 volts DC and offer the same operating characteristics as all other two-rail, direct-current, analog model railways. H0e Scale
HOn30 (also called HOn2½, HO9 and H0e) gauge is the modelling of narrow-gauge railways in HO on N () gauge track in 1:87 scale ratio. Definitions The term HOn30 (and sometimes HOn2½) is generally used when modelling American prototypes while H0e is used for European prototypes. In Britain, the term OO9 is used. N scale is a popular model railway scale. Depending upon the manufacturer (or country), the scale ranges from 1:148 to 1:160. Effectively the scale is 1:159, 9 mm to , which is the width of standard gauge railway. However the scale may vary to simulate wide or narrow-gauge rail. In all cases, the ''gauge'' (the distance between the rails) is . The term N ''gauge'' refers to the track dimensions, but in the United Kingdom in particular British N gauge refers to a 1:148 scale with 1:160 () track gauge modelling. Brass models are scale models typically of railroad equipment, bridges and occasionally of buildings, made from brass or similar alloys. Although Diecast toy, die-cast or plastic models have made considerable advances in late 1990s and continue to improve, brass models offer finer details.
